Given :

Mass of neon gas at STP.

To Find :

The volume of 139.05 g of neon gas at STP.

Solution :

Molar mass of neon, M = 20 g.

Number of moles in 139.05 g of neon :

n = 139.05/20 ≈ 7 moles

We know, volume of 1 mole of any atom/molecules in STP is 22.4 L of volume.

So, volume of 7 moles of neon is :

V = 7×22.4 L

V = 156.8 L

Therefore, volume of 139.05 g of neon gas at STP is 156.8 L.

The oxygen atom in a water molecule A is electrically neutral. B carries a negative electrical charge. C carries a positive elec
Klio2033 [76]

Answer: The oxygen atom in a water molecule carries a negative electrical charge.

Explanation:

A polar covalent bond is defined as the bond which is formed when there is a difference of electronegativities between the atoms.

Hydrogen bonding (H-bonding) is an intermolecular force having partial ionic-covalent character. H-bonding takes place between a hydrogen atom (attached with an electronegative atom e.g. O, N and F) and an electronegative atom (O,N and F).

In , H_2O , O is a highly electronegative atom attached to a H atom through a covalent bond. Therefore O atom gets partial negative charge and H atoms get partial positive charge.

Write a net ionic equation for the overall reaction that occurs when aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide and hydrosulfuric aci
Helga [31]

Answer:

2OH-(aq) + 2H+(aq) → 2H2O(l)

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

sodium hydroxide = NaOH

hydrosulfuric acid = H2S

Step 2: The unbalanced equation

NaOH(aq) + H2S(aq) → Na2S(aq) + H2O(l)

Step 3: Balancing the equation

On the left side we have 1x Na (in NaOH), on the right side we have 2x Na (in Na2S). To balance the amount of Na on both sides, we have to multiply NaOH on the left side by 2.

2NaOH(aq) + H2S(aq) → Na2S(aq) + H2O(l)

On the left side we have 4x H (2x in NaOH and 2x in H2S), on the right side we have 2x H (in H2O). To balance the amount of H on both sides, we have to multiply H2O on the right side by 2. Now the equation is balanced.

2NaOH(aq) + H2S(aq) → Na2S(aq) + 2H2O(l)

Step 4: The net ionic equation

2Na+(aq) + 2OH-(aq) + 2H+(aq) + S^2-(aq) → 2Na+(aq) + S^2-(aq) + 2H2O(l)

The net ionic equation, for which spectator ions are omitted - remember that spectator ions are those ions located on both sides of the equation - will , after canceling those spectator ions in both side, look like this:

2OH-(aq) + 2H+(aq) → 2H2O(l)

What is the mole ratio needed to determine the mass of phosphorus trifluoride produced from the reaction of 120 g of phosphorus
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

\frac{4molPF_3}{1molP_4}

Explanation:

Hello

In this case, given the reaction:

P_4(s)+6F_2(g)\rightarrow 4PF_3(g)

It means that since the coefficients preceding phosphorous and phosphorous trifluoride are 1 and 4, the correct mole ratio should be:

\frac{4molPF_3}{1molP_4}

Because given the mass of phosphorous it is convenient to convert it to moles and then cancel it out with the moles on bottom of the mole ratio.

Bes regards!
