Answer:

An unbalanced force is a force that causes an object's state of motion to change. In other words, unbalanced forces are the things that make objects speed up or slow down.

Sonja [21]

Answer:

The speed of disk is 1.98 \frac{m}{s}

Explanation:

Given:

Mass of m = 0.099 kg

Spring constant k = 244 \frac{N}{m}

Compression of spring x = 4 \times 10^{-2} m

From energy conservation theorem,

Spring potential energy converted into kinetic energy,

   \frac{1}{2} m v^{2} = \frac{1}{2} k x^{2}

  v = \sqrt{\frac{k x^{2} }{m} }

  v = \sqrt{\frac{244 \times 16 \times 10^{-4} }{0.099} }

  v = 1.98 \frac{m}{s}

Therefore, the speed of disk is 1.98 \frac{m}{s}

What are the units of acceleration?
Marina86 [1]

Acceleration is any change in speed or direction of motion.

The dimension of speed is [length/time],
so a change is [length/time²].

Popular units include [meter/second²] and [feet/second²] .
________________________

Direction almost always boils down to an angle, (which technically
has no dimensions), so a change in direction is  [angle/time] .

Popular units include [radian/second] and [degree/second] .

To demonstrate the tremendous acceleration of a top fuel dragracer, you attempt to run your car into the back of a dragster that
noname [10]

Answer:

a. 2v₀/a   b. 2v₀/a

Explanation:

a. Since you are moving with a constant velocity v₀, the distance, s you cover in time = t max is s = v₀t.

Since the dragster starts from rest with an acceleration, a, using

s' = ut + 1/2at² where u = 0 and s' = distance moved by dragster

s' = 0t + 1/2at²

s' = 1/2at²

Since the distance moved by me and the dragster must be the same,

s = s'

v₀t. =  1/2at²

v₀t. - 1/2at² = 0

t(v₀ - 1/2at) = 0

t= 0 or v₀ - 1/2at = 0

t= 0 or v₀ = 1/2at

t= 0 or t = 2v₀/a

So the maximum time tmax = 2v₀/a

b. Since the distance covered by me to meet the dragster is s = v₀t in time, t = tmax which is also my distance from the dragster when it started. So, my distance from the dragster when it started is s =  v₀(2v₀/a)

= 2v₀/a

A space vehicle is traveling at 3760 km/h relative to Earth when the exhausted rocket motor is disengaged and sent backward. The
almond37 [142]

Answer:

3688 km/h

Explanation:

Given:-

- The speed of vehicle relative to earth, vs_e = 3760 km/h

- The relative speed of command and motor, v_c/m = 90 km/h

- The mass of command = m

- The mass of motor = 4m

Find:-

What is the speed of the command module relative to Earth just after the separation?

Solution:-

- Consider the space vehicle as a system that detaches itself into two parts ( command and motor ). We will assume that the gravitational pull due to Earth on the space vehicle is negligible. With that assumption we have our system in isolation. We will apply the principle of conservation of linear momentum on the system as follows:

             Initial momentum = Final momentum

                                       Pi = Pf

                  M*vs_e = m*vc_e + 4m*vm_e

Where,

                  M = m + 4m = 5m

                  vc_e = Velocity of command relative to earth

                  vm_e = Velocity of motor relative to earth

- We will develop a relation of velocities of command and motor in the frame of earth as follows:

                  vm_e =  v_c/m + vc_e

- Substituting (vm_e) from Equation 2 into Equation 1, we have:

                  5m*vs_e = m*vc_e + 4m*(v_c/m + vc_e)

                  5m*vs_e = 5m*vc_e + 4m*(v_c/m)

- Solve for vc_e:

                  5m*vs_e -  4m*(v_c/m) = 5m*vc_e

                   vs_e - 0.8*(v_c/m) = vc_e

- Plug in values and evaluate vc_e:

                  vc_e = 3760 - 0.8*(90)

                  vc_e = 3,688 km/h
