With the Slimfast plan, you eat two Slimfast meal replacements, three 100-calorie snacks (Slimfast snack bars, fruits, veggies, or even nuts), and one 500-calorie meal that you provide. With this plan you can eat 6 times per day. The program says you can lose a safe 1 to 2 pounds per week with this strategy.

Arturiano [62]

The question is incomplete, the complete question is;

One tank of goldfish is feed the normal amount which is once a day, a second tank is fed twice a day, and a third tank is fed four times a day during a 6 week study. The fishes' body fat is recorded daily.

Independent Variable-

Dependent Variable-

Constants

Control Group-

Answer:

A) The amount of food the gold fish receives

B) Body fat of the gold fish

C) -Type of fish used in the study (gold fish)

Time period within which the fishes were fed (Six week period)

Shape and size of tank

D) group of gold fish fed the normal amount

Explanation:

The purpose of the study is to determined the impact of amount of feed on the body fat of gold fish. Hence, the amount of feed is the independent variable while the body fat of the feed is the dependent variable.

The control group receives the normal amount of feed (once a day). The fishes are all gold fish, fed within a six week period. All the tanks were of the same shape and size. These are the constants in the study.

1. In what ways does an organism’s mode of reproduction impact the diversity of its offspring? (Asexual vs. Sexual)
Katen [24]

Answer:

Asexual reproduction = An exact copy of the reproducer

Sexual reproduction = Genetic variation into the organism if a random mutation in the organism's DNA is transmitted to offspring.

Explanation:

Example of Asexual Reproduction diversity - A red apple has apple seeds. You plant the red apple seeds, and it grows up to be no different than the apple before it.

Sexual reproduction Example of diversity -Two parents are of different ethnicities. The female gets pregnant, but because of the different genetics from both of the parents, the child will inherit their genetics + some random mutation in the DNA.

This impacts the diversity of the offspring because it can be an exact copy of the reproducer (Asexual), or significantly different with some similarities if the mode of reproduction was sexual.

I really hope this helps you! Please tell me if it did or not. Good luck with your assignment/exam/quiz!

How many moles of Cu(OH)2 are soluble in 1L of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) when the pH is 8.23?
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

4.96E-8 moles of Cu(OH)2

Explanation:

Kps es the constant referring to how much a substance can be dissolved in water. Using Kps, it is possible to know the concentration of weak electrolytes. Then, pKps is the minus logarithm of Kps.

Now, we know that sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a strong electrolyte, who is completely dissolved in water. Therefore the pH depends only on OH concentration originating from NaOH. Let us to figure out how much is that OH concentration.

pH= -log[H]\\pH= -log (\frac{kw}{[OH]})

8.23 = - log(\frac{Kw}{[OH]} \\10^{-8.23} = Kw/[OH]\\ [OH] = Kw/10^{-8.23}

[OH]=1.69E-6

This concentration of OH affects the disociation of Cu(OH)2. Let us see the dissociation reaction:

Cu(OH)_2 -> Cu^{2+} + 2OH^-

In the equilibrum, exist a concentration of OH already, that we knew, and it will be added that from dissociation, called "s":

The expression for Kps is:

Kps= [Cu^{2+}] [OH]^2

The moles of (CuOH)2 soluble are limitated for the concentration of OH present, according to the next equation.

Kps= s*(2s+1.69E-6)^2

"s" is the soluble quantity of Cu(OH)2.

The solution for this third grade equation is s=4.96E-8 mol/L

Now, let us calculate the moles in 1 L:

moles Cu(OH)_2 = 4.96E-8 mol/L * 1 L = 4.96E-8 moles
