Answer:

ΔU = 5.21 × 10^(10) J

Explanation:

We are given;

Mass of object; m = 1040 kg

To solve this, we will use the formula for potential energy which is;

U = -GMm/r

But we are told we want to move the object from the Earth's surface to an altitude four times the Earth's radius.

Thus;

ΔU = -GMm((1/r_f) - (1/r_i))

Where;

M is mass of earth = 5.98 × 10^(24) kg

r_f is final radius

r_i is initial radius

G is gravitational constant = 6.67 × 10^(-11) N.m²/kg²

Since, it's moving to altitude four times the Earth's radius, it means that;

r_i = R_e

r_f = R_e + 4R_e = 5R_e

Where R_e is radius of earth = 6371 × 10³ m

Thus;

ΔU = -6.67 × 10^(-11) × 5.98 × 10^(24)

× 1040((1/(5 × 6371 × 10³)) - (1/(6371 × 10³))

ΔU = 5.21 × 10^(10) J

How does the geosphere interact with the biosphere during a fire?
shutvik [7]

Answer: A forest fire could affect the geosphere by ash and the heat from the fire, but the fire would affect the biosphere by less oxygen in the air and would make it hard for human to breath affecting climate change. Also many homes to wildlife that live in the forest would lose their homes. This would result in lose of money from no hunting and that affect the economy.

A piece of taffy slams into and sticks to an identical piece of taffy at rest. The momentum of the combined pieces after the col
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

D) 50%

Explanation:

According to conservation of momentum:

m_{1} v_{1i} + m_{2} v_{2i} = m_{1} v_{1f} + m_{2} v_{2f}

Assuming that the second taffy started at rest, both pieces have the same mass and that they combined after the collision, their final velocity is:

m v_{1i} = (m+m) v_{f}\\v_{f} = 0.5 v_{1i}

The initial kinetic energy of the system is:

E_{ki} = \frac{m*v_{1i}^2}{2}

Since the second taffy was not moving, it had no kinetic energy at first.

The initial kinetic energy of the system is:

E_{kf} = \frac{2m*v_{f}^2}{2}\\E_{kf} = \frac{2m*(0.5v_{1i})^2}{2}\\E_{kf} = \frac{0.5m*v_{1i}^2}{2}

The percentage of kinetic energy that becomes heat is given by:

H=1 - \frac{E_{kf}}{E_{ki}}\\H=1 - \frac{\frac{0.5m*v_{1i}^2}{2}}{\frac{m*v_{1i}^2}{2}}\\\\H=1- 0.5 = 0.5

THerefore, 50% of the kinetic energy becomes heat

What is the source of almost all energy on Earth?
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

The Sun

Explanation:

A few main examples of the sun providing the Earth with energy; It is part of the process of photosynthesis. Sunlight can be used to produce solar energy. The sun keeps the Earth warm enough for living organisms to survive.

Two loudspeakers, A and B, are driven by the same amplifier and emit sinusoidal waves in phase. The frequency of the waves emitt
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

The distance of the speaker B would be 1 meters.

Explanation:

Given that,

Frequency of the waves emitted, f = 172 Hz

You are 8.00 m from the speaker.

The speed of sound in air to be 344 m/s.

The wavelength of the wave is given in terms of frequency and the speed of sound. It is given by :

v=f\lambda\\\\\lambda=\dfrac{v}{f}\\\\\lambda=\dfrac{344\ m/s}{172\ Hz}\\\\\lambda=2\ m

Since, the distance from the Speaker A is 8 m which is the integral multiple of the wavelength. Let the closest distance of the speaker B would be given by :

d=\dfrac{\lambda}{2}\\\\d=\dfrac{2}{2}\\\\d=1\ m

So, the distance of the speaker B would be 1 meters. Hence, this is the required solution.
