Calculate the number of grams of CO that can react with 0.400 kg of Fe2O3.
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

mass of CO = 210.42 g

mass in three significant figures = 210. g

Explanation:

Given data:

mass of Fe2O3 = 0.400 Kg

mass of CO= ?

Solution:

chemical equation:

Fe2O3 + 3CO → 2Fe + 3CO2

Now we will calculate the molar mass of Fe2O3 and CO.

Molar mass of Fe2O3 = (55.845 × 2) + (16 × 3) = 159.69 g/mol

Molar mass of CO = 12+ 16 = 28 g/mol

now we will convert the kg of Fe2O3 in g.

mass of Fe2O3 = 0.400 kg × 1000 = 400 g

number of moles of Fe2O3 = 400 g/ 159.69 g/mol = 2.505 mol

mass of CO = moles of Fe2O3 × 3( molar mass of CO)

mass of CO = 2.505 mol × 84 g/mol

mass of CO = 210.42 g

mass in three significant figures = 210. g

How many moles of chlorine are in 6.67x10^40 chlorine molecules?
sweet-ann [11.9K]
To solve for the number of moles, we simply have to use the Avogadros number which states that there are 6.022 x 10^23 molecules per mole. Therefore:

number of moles = 6.67 X 10^40 chlorine molecules / (6.022 x 10^23 molecules / mole)
number of moles = 1.108 x 10^17 moles

Choose ALL TRUE statements about calorimetry from the choices below:
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

True statment

2) Styrofoam would make a good calorimeter

3) Insulating material would make a good calorimeter

Explanation:

The calorimeter is one which is insulated that is which will not absorb or let the heat to escape from it. the calorimeter is used to measure the heat change during a process so if it will allow to exchange heat with surrounding it will deviate the readings or observence.

Copper is a good conductor of heat so we cannot use it make a calorimeter.

Hence

1) Copper would make a good calorimeter : False

2) Styrofoam would make a good calorimeter: True

Styrofoam is a bad conductor or insulator so it can be and it is used for calorimeter.

3) Insulating material would make a good calorimeter : True

4) A good calorimeter should easily absorb heat : false

Pretend that you are the size of an atom, observing a reaction between a potassium atom and a fluorine atom. Write an account of
Crazy boy [7]
Each atom in an ionic compound tends either to empty or complete the shell to 8 electrons. So when the number of electrons on the external shell is near 8 , the atom tends to attract electrons to complete the shell giving a positive ion called anion
Conversely when the number of electrons is small the atom gives these electrons to form a positive ion called a cation
