If a particle undergoes shm with amplitude 0.21 m, what is the total distance it travels in one period?
Ymorist [56]
If a particle undergoes simple harmonic motion with an amplitude of 0.21 meters, this means that the maximum displacement of the particle from its resting position is 0.21. For one period, it traveled from its starting position which is twice the amplitude and then back to its original position which is another distance that is twice the amplitude as well. Therefore, the total distance it traveled is 2*amplitude + 2*amplitude = 2*0.21 + 2*0.21 = 0.42 + 0.42 = 0.84 meters.

Name two examples of deposition.
Rashid [163]
The reverse of deposition is sublimation and hence sometimes deposition is called desublimation. One example of deposition is the process by which, in sub-freezing air, water vapor changes directly to ice without first becoming a liquid.

Calculate the power transfer when a pump moves 50kg of water through a vertical height of 8meters in 5seconds (take g =10meters
Vika [28.1K]

Hi there!

Recall the following relationships:

W = \Delta U = mg\Delta h\\\\P = \frac{W}{t}

W = Work (J)

U = Potential Energy (J)

m = mass (kg)

g = acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s²)

h = height (m)

t = time (s)

Begin by calculating the work:

W = 50(10)(8) = 4000 J

Now, divide by the time to solve for power:

P = \frac{4000}{5} = \boxed{800W}

**W is the unit for power (Watts).  Be careful not to get the two confused.
