Chemistry

In general, the further away an electron is from the nucleus, the easier it is for it to be expelled. In other words, ionization energy is a function of atomic radius; the larger the radius, the smaller the amount of energy required to remove the electron from the outer most orbital. For example, it would be far easier to take electrons away from the larger element of Ca (Calcium) than it would be from one where the electrons are held tighter to the nucleus, like Cl (Chlorine). Hope this helped a little not the exact answer though :)

Calculate the amount of heat water absorbs from a piece of hot metal using the following data: 75.0 g of cold water is placed in
AysviL [449]

Answer:

Amount of heat absorbed by water is 2604.54 J.

Explanation:

Amount of heat absorbed by water = m_{water}\times C_{water}\times \Delta T_{water}

where m represents mass, C represents specific heat and \Delta T represents change in temperature.

Here m_{water}=75.0 g , C_{water}=4.184J/(g.^{0}\textrm{C}) and \Delta T = (final temperature - initial temperature) = (29.5-21.2) ^{0}\textrm{C} = 8.3 ^{0}\textrm{C}

So, amount of heat heat absorbed by water

     = (75.0g)\times (4.184\frac{J}{g.^{0}\textrm{C}})\times (8.3^{0}\textrm{C})

     = 2604.54 J

If 507 g FeCl2 were used up in the reaction FeCl2 + 2NaOH Fe(OH)2(s) + 2NaCl, how many grams of NaCl would be made?
Ket [755]
Number of moles of FeCl2 used = mass/ molar mass
Number of moles = 507/126.751 = 4.
If one mole of Fe reacts with two moles of sodium
Then 4 moles of Fe produces 8 moles of sodium.
Number of moles of sodium = mass/molar mass
Molar mass of sodium chloride = 23 +35.5 = 58.5 g/mol
Hence mass = 8 * 58.5 = 468 g. Hence Option A.

What is bonding all about in chemistry?
Alina [70]
A chemical bond is a lasting attraction between atoms, ions or molecules that enables the formation of chemical compounds. The bond may result from the electrostatic force of attraction between oppositely charged ions as in ionic bonds or through the sharing of electrons as in covalent bonds.

Balance the following reaction. 2Ca3(PO4)2 + C + 6SiO2 → CaSiO3 + P4 + CO
miskamm [114]

Answer:

2Ca₃(PO₄)₂ + 10C + 6SiO₂ → 6CaSiO₃ + P₄ + 10CO.

Explanation:

  • To balance a chemical reaction, we should apply the law of conservation of mass.

  • Law of conversation of mass states that the no. of atoms is equal in both sides of the chemical reaction.

  • So, the balanced chemical reaction is:

<em>2Ca₃(PO₄)₂ + 10C + 6SiO₂ → 6CaSiO₃ + P₄ + 10CO.</em>

that 2 mol of Ca₃(PO₄)₂ react with 10 mol of C and  6 mol of SiO₂ to produce 6 mol of CaSiO₃, 1 mol of P₄ and 10 mol of CO.

deff fn [24]

Answer:

C.

Explanation:

The Clean Air Act was enacted in 1973 and brought to action in 1990. The act was passed to supervise air emissions to ensure clean air and atmosphere for people. The act was passed in the wake of premature deaths of hundred of thousands people. The act works with NAAQS to ensure safe and clean air for the safety of public health.

<u>From the given options the correct one is C. The Clean Air Act supervises the activities which emits air and any activities that is found to pollute the air will be labelled as illegal</u>.
