A gas stream contains 18.0 mole% hexane and the remainder nitrogen. The stream flows to a condenser, where its temperature is re

duced and some of the hexane is liquefied. The hexane mole fraction in the gas stream leaving the condenser is 0.0500. Liquid hexane condensate is recovered at a rate of 1.50 L/min. (a) What is the flow rate of the gas stream leaving the condenser in mol/min? (Hint : First calculate the molar flow rate of the condensate and note that the rates at which C6H14 and N2 enter the unit must equal the total rates at which they leave in the two exit streams.) (b) What percentage of the hexane entering the condenser is recovered as a liquid?

Answer:

A. 72.53 mol/min

B. 76.2%

Explanation:

Please check attachment to see the diagram of the components I drew.

I first converted flow rate to a molar flow rate. I got 11.5mol/ min after converting. Check attachment

A.) When we create a balance on all these components

n1 + n2 + n3

n1 = n2 + 11.5

Creating a balance on hexane

n1y1C6H14 = n2y2C6H14 + n3y3C6H14

n1(0.18) = n2(0.05) + 11.5mol/min(1.00)

When we put the first equation into the second one:

(n2+11.5mol/min)0.18 + n2(0.05) + 11.5mol/min(1.00)

= 0.18n2 + 2.07min/mol = 0.5n2 + 11.5mol/min

Collect like terms

0.18n2 - 0.05n2 = 11.5 - 2.07min/mol

= 0.13n2 = 9.43

n2 = 9.43/0.13

n2 = 72.53 mol/min

72.53 is the flow rate of the gas stream leaving the burner.

B.) n1 = n2 + 11.5mol/min

n1 = 72.53mol/min + 11.5mol/min

n1 = 84.93mol/min

Amount of hexane entering condenser

n1c6H14 = y1C6H14 = 0.18(84.03mol/min)

= 15.1mol/min

The percentage condensed

= (11.5mol/min)/(15.1mol/min) * 100

= 76.2% of hexane is recovered as liquid

Your friend has two substances A and B which are compressed liquid and superheated vapor respectively. Both are in rigid vessels
Anon25 [30]

Answer:

Following are the solution to the given question:

Explanation:

The material is necessary to cook since frying is a speedy process for evaporation.

Drug A is now in the compressed fluid area, and the material would not boil if the pressure is chilled. Because the ship is solid, its substance A claim is false.

Unless the volume comprises of a drop in the heat, the B substance reaches a vapor pressure area and a wet region. That's the area that melting may occur. His claim for material B could therefore be true.

maxonik [38]

The tari's total standard machine-hours allowed for last year's output 600,000 hours

Budgeted at start of year:  $100,000 fixed manufacturing overhead  for 500,000 machine hours

Standard = $100,000 / 500,000 hours = $0.2 fixed overhead / maching hour

At end of year, manufacturing overhead volume was $20,000 favorable which means

$20000 / $1=0.2 = 100000 additional hours.

Total Standard Machine Allowance Allowed for output = 500,000 + 100,000 = 600,000 hours.

the use of one machine running for an hour as a basis for cost estimation and operating effectiveness evaluation. In order to determine the contribution margin per machine hour for a specific product: a. Total cost per unit divided by the quantity of machine hours required to produce each unit of the target product. The manufacturing overhead cost divided by the activity driver yields the predetermined overhead rate. For instance, if machine hours were the activity driver, you would divide overhead costs by the anticipated number of machine hours.

one number is 11 more than another number. find the two number if three times the larger number exceeds four times the smaller n
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

a = 40

b = 29

Explanation:

Give a place holder for the numbers that we don't know.

Lets call the two numbers a and b.

From the given info, we can write an expression and solve it:

"one number is 11 more than another number"

a = 11 + b

from this, we know that a > b.

''three times the larger number exceeds four times the smaller number by 4"

3a = 4b + 4

Now we have 2 equations, we can use them to solve using whatever method you want.

a = 11 + b

3a = 4b + 4

I will be using matrices RREF to solve for this.

a - b = 11

3a - 4b = 4

\begin{bmatrix}1 & -1  & 11\\3 & -4 & 4 \end{bmatrix}

\begin{bmatrix}1 & 0  & 40\\0 & 1 & 29 \end{bmatrix}

a = 40

b = 29
