There is a 0.9991 probability that a randomly selected 31-year-old male lives through the year. A life insurance company charge
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer:

a) Monetary values corresponding to the two events are:

-In case of surviving the year = -166$

-In case of a death in the year = 89834$

b) Expected value of the purchasing the insurance is -85 $

c) Yes, insurance company can make a profit with this policy.

Step-by-step explanation:

a) The man need to pay 166$ first to enroll the insurance policy. If he survives within a year, he will lose 166$. Otherwise, if he dies within a year he will profit 89834$.

b) Expected value of the purchasing the insurance as following:

-In case of surviving the year:

Value: -166$

Probability: 0,9991

-In case of death in a year

Value: 89834$

Probability: 0,0009

Expected value is E(x) = -166×0,9991 + 89834×0,0009 = -85 $

c) Lets consider that 10000 different 31 year old man enrolled to this insurance policy. According to probability of death, 9 out of 10000 man expected to be dead within the year. Therefore, company need to pay 9*90000 = 810000$ to their costumers. But, company will collect 10000*166=1660000$ from their costumers in the beginning of the year

So, it is expected that company is going to profit 1660000-810000=850000$ per year.

What is the value of tan (-2pi/3)?
wolverine [178]
This revolves around exact trig values - no easy way to say this, you just need to memorise them. They are there for sin cos and tan, but I will give you the main tan ones below - note this is RADIANS (always work in them when you can, everything is better):

tan0: 0
tanpi/6: 1/sqrt(3)
tanpi/4: 1
tanpi/3: sqrt(3)
tanpi/2: undefined

Now we just need to equate -2pi/3 to something we understand. 2pi/3 is 1/3 of the way round a circle, so -2pi/3 is 1/3 of the way round the circle going backwards (anticlockwise), so on a diagram we already know it's in the third quadrant of the circle (somewhere between pi and 3pi/2 rads).
We also know it is pi/3 away from pi, so we are looking at sqrt(3) or -sqrt(3) because of those exact values.

Now we just need to work out if it's positive or negative. You can look up a graph of tan and it'll show that the graph intercepts y at (0,0) and has a period of pi rads. Therefore between pi and 3pi/2 rads, the values of tan are positive. Therefore, this gives us our answer of sqrt(3).

Which of the following is a proportion?

A. 4/6 = 6/9

B. 5/6 = 10/18
worty [1.4K]
Hey there mate!

Your correct answer would be \left[\begin{array}{ccc}\boxed{\boxed{ 4/6 = 6/9}}\end{array}\right] This would be because 4/6 is almost 1 as a whole, and also, 6/9 is almost 1, as a whole, so this would totally make sense for this to be a proportional.

Hope this helps you budd!

A caterer prepares four times as many pizzas as she usually prepares for a large party. The caterer usually prepares 6 pizzas. T
lilavasa [31]
Let's take this problem step by step:

Step 1: First, the problem states that the caterer prepares four times as many pizzas as she usually prepares for a large party. It also states that she usually prepares six pizzas.

Step 2: 6 x 4 = 24

Step 3: The caterer estimates that each party guest will eat 1/4 of a pizza.

Step 4: 24 pizzas divided by 1/4 of a pizza is equivalent to 24/(1/4)

Step 5: You can take the reciprocal of 1/4 and multiply instead.

Step 6: 24 x 4 = 96

The answer is 96 party guests.
