Answer:

A wave can be thought of as a disturbance or oscillation that travels through space-time, accompanied by a transfer of energy. The direction a wave propagates is perpendicular to the direction it oscillates for transverse waves. A wave does not move mass in the direction of propagation; it transfers energy.

A fisherman is watching water waves ripple past his boat. How could he determine the wavelength of the water waves?
natta225 [31]
Wavelength can be calculated using the following formula: wavelength = wave velocity/frequency. Wavelength usually is expressed in units of meters.

A woman 5.5 ft walks at a rate of 6 ft/sec towards a street light that is 22 ft above the ground. At what rate is the length of
Soloha48 [4]

Answer:

The length of her shadow is changing at the rate  -2 m/s

Explanation:

Let the height oh the street light, h = 22 ft

Let the height of the woman, w = 5.5 ft

Horizontal distance to the street light = l

length of shadow = x

h/w = (l + x)/x

22/5.5 =  (l + x)/x

4x = l + x

3x = l

x = 1/3 l

taking the derivative with respect to t of both sides

dx/dt = 1/3 dl/dt

dl/dt = -6 ft/sec ( since the woman is walking towards the street light, the value of l is decreasing with time)

dx/dt = 1/3 * (-6)

dx/dt = -2 m/s

Calculate the total resistance for a 650 ohm, a 350 ohm, and a 1000 ohm resister connected in series
fenix001 [56]
The total resistance for resistors in series is the sum of the individual resistances.

The total resistance is 650 ohm + 350 ohm + 1000 ohm = 2000 ohm
