Pete Zaria works on weekends at Barnaby's Pizza Parlor. His primary responsibility is to fill drink orders for customers. He fil

ls a pitcher full of Cola, places it on the counter top and gives the 2.6-kg pitcher a 8.8 N forward push over a distance of 48 cm to send it to a customer at the end of the counter. The coefficient of friction between the pitcher and the counter top is 0.28. a. Determine the work done by Pete on the pitcher during the 48 cm push. b. Determine the work done by friction upon the pitcher . c. Determine the total work done upon the pitcher . d. Determine the kinetic energy of the pitcher when Pete is done pushing it. e. Determine the speed of the pitcher when Pete is done pushing it.

Answer:

W_n_e_t=7.648512 \approx 7.6J

K.E=0.8J

v=0.7844645406 \approx 0.78m/s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

Mass of pitcher   M= 2.6kg

Force on pitcher f=8.8N

Distance traveled 48cm=>0.48m

Coefficient of friction \mu=0.28

a)Generally frictional force is mathematically given by

F=\mu N

F=0.28*2.6*9.8

F=7.1344N

Generally work done on the pitcher is mathematically given as

W_n_e_t=W_f+W_F

W_f=8.8*0.48=>4.224N\\W_F=7.1344*0.48=>3.424512N

W_n_e_t=4.224-3.424512

W_n_e_t=0.799488\approx 0.8J

b)Generally K.E can be given mathematically as

K.E= W_n_e_t

Therefore

K.E=0.8J

c)Generally the equation for kinetic energy is mathematically represented by

K.E=1/2mv^2

0.8=1/2mv^2

Velocity as subject

v=\sqrt{\frac{K.E*2}{m} }

v=\sqrt{\frac{0.8*2}{2.6} }

v=0.7844645406 \approx 0.78m/s

An object is placed perpendicular to the the principal axis of convex lens of focal length 8,the distance of the object from the
Digiron [165]

Answer:

v = 24 cm and inverted image

Explanation:

Given that,

The focal length of the object, f = +8 cm

Object distance, u = -12 cm

We need to find the position &nature of the image. Let v be the image distance. Using lens formula to find it :

\dfrac{1}{v}-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}

Put all the values,

\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{f}+\dfrac{1}{u}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{8}+\dfrac{1}{(-12)}\\\\v=24\ cm

So, the image distance from the lens is 24 cm.

Magnification,

m=\dfrac{v}{u}\\\\m=\dfrac{24}{-12}\\\\m=-2

The negative sign of magnification shows that the formed image is inverted.

A 3200-lb car is moving at 64 ft/s down a 30-degree grade when it runs out of fuel. Find its velocity after that if friction exe
Karolina [17]

Answer:

The velocity is 40 ft/sec.

Explanation:

Given that,

Force = 3200 lb

Angle = 30°

Speed = 64 ft/s

The resistive force with magnitude proportional to the square of the speed,

F_{r}=kv^2

Where, k = 1 lb s²/ft²

We need to calculate the velocity

Using balance equation

F\sin\theta-F_{r}=m\dfrac{d^2v}{dt^2}

Put the value into the formula

3200\sin 30-kv^2=m\dfrac{d^2v}{dt^2}

Put the value of k

3200\times\dfrac{1}{2}-v^2=m\dfrac{d^2v}{dt^2}

1600-v^2=m\dfrac{d^2v}{dt^2}

At terminal velocity \dfrac{d^2v}{dt^2}=0

So, 1600-v^2=0

v=\sqrt{1600}

v=40\ ft/sec

Hence, The velocity is 40 ft/sec.
