A helicopter carrying Dr. Evil takes off with a constant upward acceleration of 7.0 m/s2. Secret agent Austin Powers jumps on ju

st as the helicopter lifts off the ground. After the two men struggle for 11.0 s, Powers shuts off the engine and steps out of the helicopter. Assume that the helicopter is in free fall after its engine is shut off, and ignore the effects of air resistance.
A. What is the maximum height above ground reached by the helicopter?
B. Powers deploys a jet pack strapped on his back 7.0s after leaving the helicopter, and then he has a constant downward acceleration with magnitude 1.0 m/s^2?
C. How far is Powers above the ground when the helicopter crashes into the ground?

Answer:

a) 725.5 m

b) 630 m

Explanation:

Given data:

acceleration of Helicopter = 7.0 m/s^2

time spent upwards by helicopter = 11.0 seconds

a) Determine the maximum height above ground reached by the helicopter

h1  = at^2 /2

   = 7 * 11^2 / 2

   = ( 7 * 121 ) / 2 =  423.5 m

  also v = a*t  = 7 * 11 = 77 m/s

also we calculate h2

h2 = v^2 / 2g

    = (77^2) / 2 * 9.81

    = 302 m

therefore the maximum height =  302 + 423.5 = 725.5 m

b) Given that ; power deploys a jet pack strapped on his back at 7.0 s and with a downward acceleration of ; 1.0 m/s^2

Determine distance Power reaches before helicopter crashes

s = ut + 1/2 at^2

h.gt^2 - 77t - 423.5 m = 0

h.gt^2 - 77t = 423.5

t = 17. 66 secs

Yf = 423.5 + 77 *7 - 4.9 *7

Yf = 928.2

Vf = u + at

    = 77 - 9.8*7  = 8.4 m/secs

t' = 17.66 - 7 = 10.66 secs

hence

Yf = 725.5 - 8.4 * 10.66 + 1/2 * -1 * 10.66

   = 630 meters

3) Principles of rectilinear proportion of light 9
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:Principle of rectilinear propagation of light

Explanation:Principle of rectilinear propagation of light

Rectilinear propagation of light refers to the propensity of light to travel along a straight line without any interference in its trajectory. ... It is because light travels along a straight line and leaves only the areas where the object interferes.

What 2 environments once existed where the Grand Canyon is located today?
patriot [66]

The entire park area is considered to be a semi-arid desert, but distinct habitats are located at different elevations along the 8,000-foot elevation gradient. Near the Colorado River, riparian vegetation and sandy beaches prevail.

A 0.950 kg block is attached to a spring with spring constant 16.0 N/m . While the block is sitting at rest, a student hits it w
Bumek [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass attached m = 0.95kg

Spring constant k = 16N/m

Instantaneous speed v = 36cm/s = 0.36m/s

Amplitude A=?

When x = 0.7A

Using conservation of energy

∆K.E + ∆P.E = 0

K.E(final) — K.E(initial) + P.E(final) — P.E(initial) = 0

At the beginning immediately the hammer hits the mass, the potential energy is 0J, Therefore, P.E(initial) = 0J, so the speed is maximum.

Also, at the end, at maximum displacement, the speed is zero, therefore, K.E(final) = 0

So, the equation becomes

— K.E(initial) + P.E(final) = 0

K.E(initial) = P.E(final)

½mv² = ½kA²

mv² = kA²

0.95 × 0.36² = 16×A²

0.12312 = 16•A²

A² = 0.12312/16

A² = 0.007695

A = √0.007695

A = 0.088 m

A = 8.8cm

B. Speed at x = 0.7A

Using the same principle above

K.E(initial) = P.E(final)

½mv² = ½kA²

Where A = 0.7A = 0.7 × 0.088 = 0.0614m

Then,

½× 0.95 × v² = ½ × 16 × 0.0614²

0.475v² = 0.0310644

v² = 0.0310644/0.475

v² = 0.0635

v = √0.0635

v = 0.252 m/s

v = 25.2 cm/s
