7. 0.0048967 moles of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP)

8. molar concentration of NaOH solution is 1 M

Explanation:

7. If 1 gram of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) reacted in the titration reaction, how many moles reacted? The molar mass of KHP is 204.22 g/mole.

To solve this we use the following formula:

number of moles = mass / molar weight

number of moles of KHP = 1 g / 204.22 g/mole

number of moles of KHP = 0.0048967 moles

8. What is the molarity of a solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) if 4.0 grams of NaOH is dissolved in 100 mL of water. The molar mass of NaOH is 40.0 g/mole.

First we calculate the number of moles of NaOH:

number of moles = mass / molar weight

number of moles of NaOH = 4 g / 40 g/mole = 0.1 moles

Now to determine the molarity of the solution we use the following formula:

molar concentration = number of moles / volume (L)

molar concentration of NaOH solution = 0.1 moles / 0.1 L = 1 M

The nonmetals helium, neon, and argon and the metals copper, silver, and gold are among only a few elements that are found in na
Fynjy0 [20]

Answer:

A pure element is a pure substance that has only one kind of atoms. If a substance is present in nature in elemental form, it means that the element is not very reactive as reactive elements exist in the form of their compounds with atoms of other elements. Element can be categorized as a metal or a non-metal based on some physical observable properties. Generally, metals are shiny lustrous solids and nonmetals are gases. Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity whereas nonmetals are not conductors.

The total volume of seawater is 1.5 x 1021L .Assume that seawater contains 3.1 percent sodium chloride by mass and that its dens
son4ous [18]

Answer:

Mass in kg = 4.7*10^19 kg

Mass in tons = 5.2*10^16 tons

Explanation:

<u>Given:</u>

Total volume of sea water = 1.5*10^21 L

Mass % NaCl in seawater = 3.1%

Density of seawater = 1.03 g/ml

<u>To determine:</u>

Total mass of NaCl in kg and in tons

<u>Calculation:</u>

Unit conversion:

1 L = 1000 ml

The volume of seawater in ml is:

=\frac{1.5*10^{21}L*1000ml }{1L} =1.5*10^{24} ml

Mass\ seawater = Density*volume = 1.03g/ml*1.5*10^{24} ml=1.5*10^{24}g

Mass\ NaCl\ in\ seawater = \frac{3.1}{100}*1.5*10^{24} g=4.7*10^{22} g

To convert mass from g to Kg:

1000 g = 1 kg

Mass\ seawater(kg) = \frac{4.7*10^{22}g*1kg }{1000g} =4.7*10^{19} kg

To convert mass from g to tons:

1 ton = 9.072*10^6 g

Mass\ seawater(tons) = \frac{4.7*10^{22}g*1ton }{9.072*10^{6}g } =5.2*10^{16} tons

Why is it difficult to undergo nucleophilic substitution in haloarene?
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

In Haloarenes the C atom to which the X group is attached is SP2 hybridized thus it is become difficult to replace it by the Nucleophile. Since arenes and Vinyl halides are electron rich molecules due to presenceof n bonds, they repel Nucleophile attacking them.

If mercury (Hg) and oxygen (O2) were reacted to form mercury oxide how many molecules of each reactant and product would be need
dimulka [17.4K]
In order to get HgO you would need 2Hg+1O2=2HgO. Since oxygen is diatomic you need two when it stands alone causing you to need two mercuries to balance out the reactants and the product I hope this helps

Which of the following are always larger than the neutral atoms from which they are formed?
Anuta_ua [19.1K]

Answer:

A) Cations

Explanation:

a) Cations have a positive charge and are larger than their neutral counterparts!

b) Anions have a negative charge and are smaller than their neutral counterparts

c) Metals can have either a positive or negative charge making it either a cation or an anion

d) Carbon is an element and it can have a charge anywhere from +4 to -4

A good way to remember that cations are positive is to think that CATions are always PAWSitive! ^-^
