A vertical straight wire 35.0 cmcm in length carries a current. You do not know either the magnitude of the current or whether t

he current is moving upward or downward. If there is a uniform horizontal magnetic field of 0.0300 TT that points due north, the wire experiences a horizontal magnetic force to the west of 0.0180 NN. Find the magnitude of the current.

Answer:

1.714\ \text{A}

Explanation:

F = Magnetic force = 0.018 N

B = Magnetic field = 0.03 T

L = Length of wire = 35 cm

\theta  = Angle between current and magnetic field = 90^{\circ}

Magnetic force is given by

F=IBL\sin\theta\\\Rightarrow I=\dfrac{F}{BL\sin\theta}\\\Rightarrow I=\dfrac{0.018}{0.03\times 35\times 10^{-2}\times \sin90^{\circ}}\\\Rightarrow I=1.714\ \text{A}

The magnitude of the current is 1.714\ \text{A}.

A toy car with an initial velocity of 5 m/s slows to a stop with an acceleration of -1.5 m/s^2.
enot [183]

Car's Initial velocity (u) = 5 m/s

Car's Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s (Stop)

Acceleration of the car (a) = -1.5 m/s²

Equation used to solve this problem:

\boxed{ \bf{ {v}^{2}  =  {u}^{2}  + 2as}}

By substituting values in the equation, we get:

\rm \longrightarrow  {0}^{2}  =  {5}^{2}  +2  \times ( - 1.5) \times s \\  \\   \rm \longrightarrow 0 = 25 - 3s \\  \\  \rm \longrightarrow 25 - 3s = 0 \\  \\  \rm \longrightarrow 25 - 25 - 3s =0  - 25 \\  \\  \rm \longrightarrow  - 3s =  - 25 \\  \\  \rm \longrightarrow 3s = 25 \\  \\  \rm \longrightarrow  \dfrac{3s}{3}  =  \dfrac{25}{3}  \\  \\  \rm \longrightarrow s = 8.3 \: m

\therefore Displacement of the toy car (s) = 8.3 m

During an earthquake, you should do all of the following EXCEPT _________________________.
Nady [450]
<span>The key word is "electric". If the power goes out during an earthquake, items that run on electricity won't help you any. You need battery-operated radios and flashlights, as well as extra batteries.

When describing image formation in mirrors, what is the angle of incidence?
lana66690 [7]
'B' is the correct choice.

BUT ... the angle of incidence is not the angle between the light ray
and the mirror.  It's the angle between the light ray and the NORMAL
to the mirror.  The 'normal' is the line that's perpendicular to the mirror.
