A tennis ball, 0.314kg, is accelerated at a rate of 164m/s2 when hit by a professional tennis player. What force does the player

’s tennis racket exert on the ball?

Newton's 2nd law of motion:

Force = (mass) x (acceleration)

= (0.314 kg) x (164 m/s²)

=  51.5 newtons

(about 11.6 pounds).

Notice that the ball is only accelerating while it's in contact with the racket. The instant the ball loses contact with the racket, it stops accelerating, and sails off in a straight line at whatever speed it had when it left the strings.

Do you think it would take more force to transport five blocks in the sled or in the wagon?
enot [183]
It will depend on the frictional force involved in the two. I think it will take more force in sled.

Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Mass of mother m=79\ kg

Mother is released with a speed of v=2.5\ m/s

Assuming we need to find elastic Potential energy stored in Trampoline

Kinetic energy acquired  by Mother comes from Elastic Potential Energy stored in the spring

I.e. Elastic Potential Energy=Kinetic Energy of mother

\frac{1}{2}kx^2=\frac{1}{2}mv^2

E=\frac{1}{2}\times 79\times 2.5^2=246.875\ J

So 246.875 J of Energy is stored in the trampoline as he pull the ring

Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

The coconut hit the ground after 1.28 s

Explanation:

Velocity: This can be defined as the rate of change of displacement. Or it is defined as speed in a specified direction. Velocity is a vector quantity. The S.I unit of velocity is m/s.

Using the equation of motion,

S = ut + 1/2gt²....................................... Equation 1

Where S = distance, u = initial velocity, t = time, g = acceleration due to gravity

<em>Given: s= 8 m, u = 0 m/s ( because it was drop from a height), </em>

<em>Constant :   g = +9.8 m/s²</em>

<em>Substituting these values into equation 1,</em>

<em>8 = 0×t + 1/2(9.8×t²)</em>

<em>8 = 4.9t²</em>

<em>t² = 8/4.9</em>

<em>t = √1.63</em>

<em>t = 1.276 s</em>

t = 1.28 s

Therefore the coconut hit the ground after 1.28 s
