Consider the reaction: P(s) + 5/2 Cl2(g)PCl5(g) Write the equilibrium constant for this reaction in terms of the equilibrium con
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer: The equilibrium constant for the overall reaction is K_a\times K_b

Explanation:

Equilibrium constant is defined as the ratio of concentration of products to the concentration of reactants each raised to the power their stoichiometric ratios.

a) P(s)+\frac{3}{2}Cl_2(g)\rightarrow PCl_3(g)

K_a=\frac{[PCl_3]}{[Cl_2]^{\frac{3}{2}}}

b) PCl_3(g)+Cl_2(g)\rightarrow PCl_5(g)

K_b=\frac{[PCl_5]}{[Cl_2]\times [PCl_3]}

For overall reaction on adding a and b we get c

c) P(s)+\frac{5}{2}Cl_2(g)\rightarrow PCl_5(g)

K_c=\frac{[PCl_5]}{[Cl_2]^\frac{5}{2}}

K_c=K_a\times K_b=\frac{[PCl_3]}{[Cl_2]^{\frac{3}{2}}}\times \frac{[PCl_5]}{[Cl_2]\times [PCl_3]}

The equilibrium constant for the overall reaction is K_a\times K_b

Electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 575 nm appears as yellow light to the human eye. The energy of one photon of this
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

9.12 * 10^20 photons

Explanation:

Given that;

E=n⋅h⋅ν

Where;

E= energy of the electromagnetic radiation

n = number of photons

h = Plank's constant

ν = frequency of electromagnetic radiation

Hence;

n = E/hν

n = 3.46 × 10 -19/6.6 * 10^-34 * 575 * 10^-9

n = 3.46 × 10 -19/3795 * 10^-43

n=  9.12 * 10^20 photons

to prepare for a lab experiment, ted is making a solution that uses two types of concentrations of hcl (hydrochloric acid): 80 m
Leno4ka [110]

The concentration of the HCL in the mixed solution is 32%

Considering the First solution containing HCl,

80 ml of 50% = 80 x (50/100)

  = 80 x 0.5

  = 40 ml of HCL

Considering the second solution containing HCl,

120 ml of 80% = 120 x (20/100)

  = 120 x 0.2

  = 24 ml of HCl

So, the combined solution will have = 40+ 24

          = 64 ml of HCL

Since the combined  volume of the two solutions was = 80+120

              = 200 ml

As for finding the concentration of HCl in a solution, the required formula is to divide the volume of HCl by the combined volution of the solution.

Therefore, the  concentration of  HCl will be = 64/200

        = 0.32

Which is 32% of HCl
