The heater element of a particular 120-V toaster is a 8.9-m length of nichrome wire, whose diameter is 0.86 mm. The resistivity
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

Power, P = 722.96 watts

Explanation:

It is given that,

Voltage, V = 120 V

Length of nichrome wire, l = 8.9 m

Diameter of wire, d = 0.86 mm

Radius of wire, r = 0.43 mm = 0.00043 m

Resistivity of wire, \rho=1.3\times 10^{-6}\ \Omega-m

We need to find the power drawn by this heater. Power is given by :

P=\dfrac{V^2}{R}

And, R=\rho\dfrac{l}{A}

P=\dfrac{V^2\times A}{\rho\times l}

P=\dfrac{120^2\times \pi (0.00043)^2}{1.3\times 10^{-6}\times 8.9}

P = 722.96 watts

So, the power drawn by this heater element is 722.96 watts. Hence, this is the required solution.

What is the significance of the nose end marking on a rocket or missile?
Gemiola [76]
If you're referring to the different colors that usually occur at the tip of missles, rockets and some other aircraft, it either a) signifies the end of a particular plate of metal, fabricated specifically to be for the nose. Sometimes these can even be a different alloy or metal all together. or b) this shows where the curved surface begins, so in the case of damage or imperfections due to wear, they can be repaired and measured more easily. The shape of the nose is extremely important for smooth flight, and a dent or bump formed on it can make the aircraft unstable. If you can measure from where the curve starts by the difference in color, it makes repairing or re-fabricating the part much easier. Many of these curves aren't as simple as they appear.

Please help on this one?
Lelu [443]

The easiest way to answer this question is just to get the answer first. The answer is A with the added comment that no chemical reaction has taken place.

Layered means that the chemicals are not soluble in one another. B is not the answer.

C is eliminated by what what was said about A.

D a solution is not a pure substance (singular) by itself. There are at least 2 chemicals together.

The drag force pushes opposite your motion as you ride a bicycle. If you double your speed, what happens to the drag force?
timurjin [86]

Answer: The drag force goes up by a factor of 4

Explanation:

The <u>Drag Force</u> equation is:

F_{D}=\frac{1}{2}C_{D}\rho A_{D}V^{2} (1)

Where:

F_{D} is the Drag Force

C_{D} is the Drag coefficient, which depends on the material

\rho is the density of the fluid where the bicycle is moving (<u>air in this case) </u>

A_{D} is the transversal area of the body or object

V the bicycle's velocity

Now, if we assume C_{D}, \rho and A_{D} do not change, we can rewrite (1) as:

F_{D}=C.V^{2} (2)

Where C groups all these coefficients.

So, if we have a new velocity V_{n} , which is the double of the former velocity:

V_{n}=2V (3)

Equation (2) is written as:

F_{D}=C.V_{n}^{2}=C.(2V)^{2}

F_{D}=4CV^{2} (4)

Comparing (2) and (4) we can conclude<u> the Drag force is four times greater when the speed is doubled.</u>
