Partial pressure can be calculated from balanced equation as :  

Partial pressure can be calculated from total pressure and mole fraction of a molecule. The equation of partial pressure is given as:  

P_{partial }=P_{total }\times X  

Mole fraction can be calculated from number of moles of different substances, that we can get from a balanced equation.  

If a balanced equation is as follows:  

aA+bB---->cP  

Mole fraction of A will be =  

\frac{n_{a}}{n_{a}+n_{b}+n_{c}}  

And partial pressure of A will be:

P_{A}=P_{T}\times \frac{n_{a}}{n_{a}+n_{b}+n_{c}}

Explain the different melting points between ionic and covalent bonding

Ionic bonding is formed in Ionic compounds due to electrostatic force between the oppositely charged ions.


In covalent bonds electrons are shared between the atoms. In case of ionic bond the bond is stronger as there is complete transfer of electrons from one ion to the other.


Since the ionic bonds are more difficult to break than the covalent bonds, ionic compounds have a higher melting point than covalent compounds.
