The table below gives information about the nucleus of each 4 atoms
FrozenT [24]
The answer is B 2. As it says Atom Number of Protons and Number of Neutrons, from my understanding it means that the first number after the letter is the number of protons and the second number is the number of neutrons.

Now, If there are 6 protons in a nucleus that means there are 6 electrons on the outside, so A and D are the same element. However, you may be confused because of the different number of neutrons (6 and 7 or 7 and 8) this only means that one is and isotope of the element.

*Isotopes are atoms with the same number of protons but different number of neutrons. (Basically, same element different mass)

3. If a cation replaces an anion, the compound would have 2 positive charges. Why would this never happen
Jet001 [13]

A cation will not replace an anion in a compound because the two positively-charged ions will repel each other.

Ions

Ions are atoms or group of atoms possessing an electrical charge.

 • Positively-charged ions are known as cations.
 • Negatively-charged ions are known as anions.

Ionic compounds

Ionic compounds are compounds which are composed of oppositely charged ions held together by strong electrostatic forces of attraction between the oppositely charged ions.

 • From law of electrostatics, like charges repel and unlike charges attract.

If a cation replaces an anion, the compound would have two l positive charges which will repel each other.

Therefore, a cation will not replace an anion in a compound because the two positively-charged ions will repel each other.

What type of substance is dirt?!
stealth61 [152]

Answer:

A substance containing only one type of atom or one type of molecule is a pure substance. Most of the matter around us, however, consists of mixtures of pure substances. Air, wood, rocks and dirt are examples of such mixtures. Mixtures can be further classified as Homogeneous and Heterogeneous.
