The mass of ball A is 10 kilograms and the mass of ball B is 5 kilograms. If the initial velocity is set to 3 meters per second

for each ball, what is the final velocity of ball B if the final velocity of ball A is 2 meters per second? Use the elastic collision equation to find the final velocity of ball B. Assume ball A initially moves from right to left and ball B moves in the opposite direction. Identify each mass, velocity, and unknown. Show your work, including units, and indicate the direction of ball B in your answer.

During elastic collision the kinetic energy between the two colliding bodies is maintained before and after collision. In this case the initial momentum will be equivalent to the final momentum after collision.
Therefore; M1U1 + M2U2 = M1V1 + M2V2, Where m1 and m2 are the masses of the balls respectively, u1 and u2 are the initial velocities of the two balls and v1 and v2 are the final velocities.
Thus;  (10 ×3) + (5 ×3) = (10 ×2) + (5×v2)
                                45 = 20 + 5v2
                                 25 = 5v2
                                   v2 = 5 m/s
Therefore, the final velocity of ball B will be 5 m/s  in the same direction as ball A (from right to left)

A helicopter blade spins at exactly 110 revolutions per minute. Its tip is 4.50 m from the center of rotation. (a) Calculate th
NeX [460]

Answer:

(a). The average speed is 51.83 m/s.

(b). The average velocity over one revolution is zero.

Explanation:

Given that,

Angular velocity = 110 rev/m

Radius = 4.50 m

(a). We need to calculate the average speed

Using formula of average speed

v=r\omega

v = 4.50\times110\times\dfrac{2\pi}{60}

v=51.83\ m/s

(b). The average velocity over one revolution is zero because the net displacement is zero in one revolution.

Hence, (a). The average speed is 51.83 m/s.

(b). The average velocity over one revolution is zero.

A spherical weather balloon is filled with hydrogen until its radius is 4.40 m. Its total mass including the instruments it carr
ipn [44]

Answer:

4515.49484 N

4329.10484 N

Explanation:

r = Radius of balloon = 4.4 m

m = Mass of balloon with instruments = 19 kg

g = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

Volume of balloon

v=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3\\\Rightarrow v=\frac{4}{3}\pi 4.4^3\\\Rightarrow v=356.8179\ m^3

The Buoyant force = Weight of the air displaced

F=\rho vg\\\Rightarrow F=1.29\times 356.8179\times 9.81\\\Rightarrow F=4515.49484\ N

The buoyant force acting on the balloon is 4515.49484 N

Net force on the balloon

F_n=F-W\\\Rightarrow F_n=4515.49484-19\times 9.81\\\Rightarrow F_n=4329.10484\ N

The net force on the balloon is given by 4329.10484 N

As the balloon goes up the pressure outside reduces as the density of air decreases while the air pressure inside the balloon is high hence, the radius of the balloon tend to increase as it rises to higher altitude.
