J and K want to have a baby, but they are a little concerned because they both have the sickle cell trait. They want to know wha
Lynna [10]

Answer:

1. Attached

2. The have a 25% possibility of the disease and a 50% possibility of having the trait.

Explanation:

1. If J and K both carry the sickle cell trait, that means they are heterozygous for the sickle cell allele (Ss) where the sickle cell allele is recessive to the normal allele. The punnet square showing the possible genotypes of their potential offspring is shown in the attachment

2. The nurse would see that the genotypes possible are SS, Ss, or ss. SS would be a normal phenotype, Ss would be sickle cell trait, like the parents, and ss would have sickle cell disease. The ratios are 1 SS: 2 Ss: 1 ss. This means there is a 25% chance the child will be totally normal, a 50% chance they will inherit sickle cell trait, and 25% chance the child will have sickle cell disease.

Which nursing intervention should the nurse caring for the client with pyelonephritis implement?
lys-0071 [83]

The nurse should ask the client with pyelonephritis to increase fluid intake up to 3 liters per day.

Pyelonephritis is a form of UTI (urinary tract infection); general inflammation that starts from the urethra or bladder and spreads to one or both kidneys.

The detailed nursing intervention for such a client would involve:

● Noting down the description of patients pain for pyelonephritis

● Acknowledge the symptoms of the infection: Dysuria (painful burning sensation or difficult urination), frequent urination, urinating in bed once or twice

● Examining the urine to find:

WBC count- increased count indicates infection

Bacteria in the urine- colony count of more than 100,000 CFU/ml of urine indicates infection

Urine sensitivity and culture- to identify infecting organisms

Performing ultrasounds and kidney scans- to detect the infection

● Massaging the patient's back with a heating pack: helps in providing relief to the pain

● Encouraging the patient to increase overall intake of water- dilutes the urine, relieves irritation, and alleviates microorganisms.

● Encouraging the patient to void regularly- prevents reinfection by excreting out the pathogens

When Posting on the discussion board, you should ignore other students and not respond to their posts.
JulsSmile [24]

<u>Answer:</u>

The most appropriate answer option is B. False.

<u>Explanation:</u>

We are given the following statement and we are to determine whether its true or false:

<em>'When Posting on the discussion board, you should ignore other students and not respond to their posts.'</em>

Well in my opinion, there is no definite answer to it as it can vary from person to person according to their opinion.

For me, I think its false as the purpose of the discussion board is to interact with others on their posts as long as it a productive and healthy discussion.
