<h3><u>Given :- </u></h3>
  • Mass of Car = 850 kg
  • initial speed,u = 30 m/s
  • Time span in which car stop = 0.4 s

<h3><u>To Find :-</u></h3>
  • force on car

<h3><u>Solution:- </u></h3>

During the collision an impulse is created which due to which is equal to change in momentum.

Mathematically,

\green{ \underline { \boxed{ \sf{Impulse, F\times t = m (v-u) }}}}

where

  • F = force
  • t = time span
  • m = mass
  • v= final speed
  • u = initial speed

Now,

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf F \times 0.4 = 850 \times (0-30)   \\\end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf F \times 0.4   = 850 \times -30   \\\end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf F  = -\frac{25500}{0.4}  \\\end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf F  = -63750 N \\\end{gathered}

\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad(-ve sign denotes opposite direction)

Therefore, a force of 63750 Newton will act on the car in opposite direction.

Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

hello the diagram relating to this question is attached below

a) angular accelerations : B1 = 180 rad/sec,  B2 = 1080 rad/sec

b) Force exerted on B2 at P = 39.2 N

Explanation:

Given data:

Co = 150 N-m ,

<u>a) Determine the angular accelerations of B1 and B2 when couple is applied</u>

at point P ; Co = I* ∝B2'

                150  = ( (2*0.5^2) / 3 ) * ∝B2

∴ ∝B2' = 900 rad/sec

hence angular acceleration of B2 = ∝B2' + ∝B1 = 900 + 180 = 1080 rad/sec

at point 0 ; Co = Inet * ∝B1

                  150 = [ (2*0.5^2) / 3  + (2*0.5^2) / 3  + (2*0.5^2) ] * ∝B1

∴ ∝B1 = 180 rad/sec

hence angular acceleration of B1 =  180 rad/sec

<u>b) Determine the force exerted on B2 at P</u>

T2 = mB1g + T1  -------- ( 1 )

where ; T1 = mB2g  ( at point p )

                 = 2 * 9.81 = 19.6 N

back to equation 1

T2 = (2 * 9.8 ) + 19.6 = 39.2 N

A car is traveling at 7.0 m/s when the driver applies the brakes. The car moves 1.5 m before it comes to a complete stop. If the
viva [34]

Answer:

d. 6.0 m

Explanation:

Given;

initial velocity of the car, u = 7.0 m/s

distance traveled by the car, d = 1.5 m

Assuming the car to be decelerating at a constant rate when the brakes were applied;

v² = u² + 2(-a)s

v² = u² - 2as

where;

v is the final velocity of the car when it stops

0 = u² - 2as

2as = u²

a = u² / 2s

a = (7)² / (2 x 1.5)

a = 16.333 m/s

When the velocity is 14 m/s

v² = u² - 2as

0 = u² - 2as

2as = u²

s = u² / 2a

s = (14)² / (2 x 16.333)

s = 6.0 m

Therefore, If the car had been moving at 14 m/s, it would have traveled 6.0 m before stopping.

The correct option is d
