A 48 kg girl is standing on a chair. What is the force exerted by the chair?

Since the chair is preventing the girl from touching the ground, The chair is exerting the force onto the girl (upwards), 

and the amoutn of force would be

F = mass x gravity

F= 48 x 9.8

F = 471 N

So the answer would be 471 N upwards
