According to the wave-mechanical model of the atom, an orbital is a region of the most probable location of
Mademuasel [1]
With the advancement of science, electrons seemed to possess both particle and wave nature.
this is called the dual nature where electrons have both particle and wave properties.
earlier it was believed that electrons used to orbit around the nucleus in orbits.
Later it was found that electrons do not have fixed positions, the exact momentum and position of electrons cannot be determined at the same time
therefore the wave mechanical model was introduced which introduced orbitals.

Orbitals are spaces in which electrons are most likely to be found. These regions have the highest probability of an electron being found here.

correct answer is 3) an electron

A chemist adds of a M calcium sulfate solution to a reaction flask. Calculate the mass in grams of calcium sulfate the chemist h
Levart [38]

Answer:

1.23 g

Explanation:

A chemist adds 1.55 L of a 0.00582 M calcium sulfate solution to a reaction flask. Calculate the mass in grams of calcium sulfate the chemist has added to the flask.

Step 1: Given data

  • Volume of the solution (V): 1.55 L
  • Molar concentration of the solution (C): 0.00582 M (0.00582 mol/L)

Step 2: Calculate the moles (n) of calcium sulfate added

We will use the following expression.

n = C × V

n = 0.00582 mol/L × 1.55 L

n = 0.00902 mol

Step 3: Calculate the mass corresponding to 0.00902 moles of calcium sulfate

The molar mass of calcium sulfate is 136.14 g/mol.

0.00902 mol × 136.14 g/mol = 1.23 g

Choose the stronger acid in each of the following pairs:H₂Se or H₃As
yarga [219]

H₃As is stronger acid than H₂Se.

The H-A bond strength typically determines the size of the "As" atom in an acid; the smaller the "As" atom, the stronger the H-A bond. In the Periodic Table, the atoms get bigger and the bonds get weaker as you advance down a row, strengthening the acids.

What is acid?

Any molecule or ion that may donate a proton—a Brnsted-Lowry acid—or establish a covalent bond with a pair of electrons—a Lewis acid—is regarded as an acid. The first class of acids are the Brnsted-Lowry acids, often known as proton donors.

The compound is referred to chemically as lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD as it is more commonly known. Using it may lead you to have a distorted perception of reality and objects because it has a potent hallucinogenic effect. LSD has an effect known as tripping.

Aqueous solutions of acids with a pH lower than 8 are frequently referred to as "acids," even though the term "acid" technically only refers to the solute.

Consider the combustion reaction of acetylene (C2H2) : 2C2H2 + 5O2 mc001-1.jpg 4CO2 + 2H2O Use the periodic table to determine h
marysya [2.9K]
1) Balanced chemical equation:

    2C2H2 + 5O2 ----> 4CO2 + 2H2O

2) State the molar ratios

     2 mole C2H2 : 5 mole O2 : 4 mol CO2 : 2 mole H2O

3) Use the periodic table to get the atomic masses of each element and from that the molar masses of O2 and C2H2

Atomic masses:

O: 16 g / mol

C: 12 g / mol

H: 1 g / mol

Molar masses of O2 and C2H2:

O2: 2 * 16 g/mol = 32 g/mol

C2H2: 2*12 g/mol + 2*1g/mol = 26 g / mol

3) Convert 859.0 grams of C2H2 into moles:

     859.9 g / 26.0 g /mol = 33.07 mol C2H2

4) State the molar proportion with C2H2 and O2

x mol O2 / 33.07 mol C2H2 = 5 mol O2 / 2 mol C2H2

=> x = 33.07 mol C2H2 * 5 mol O2 / 2 mol C2H2 =   82.68 mol O2

5) Convert 82.68 mol O2 to grams

82.68 mol * 16 g/mol = 1322.9 g O2.

Answer: 1322.9 grams of O2
