A man is crossing a river of width 100 m on a motorboat. The velocity of the motor boat is 4 m/s eastward and the velocity of th

e water current is 3 m/s northward. What is the resultant velocity of the boat and how much time will it take for the man to reach the other shore of the river?

Answer:

The resultant velocity of the boat = 5 m/s

The time it will take for the man to reach the other shore of the river =  25 s

Explanation:

width of river = 100 m

The velocity of the motorboat = 4 m/s eastward

The velocity of the water current = 3 m/s northward

The resultant velocity of the boat is:

R^2 = 4^2 + 3^2

= √ (4^2) + (3^2)

= √16 + 9

=√25

= 5 m/s

The time it will take for the man to reach the other shore of the river is:

d = 100 m

v = 4 m/s

t = d / v

t = 100 / 4

t =  25 s

A net force of 20 N acting on a wooden block produces an
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

From the second law of motion:

F = ma

we are given that the force applied on the block is 20N and the block accelerates at an acceleration of 4 m/s/s

So, F=  20N   and  a = 4 m/s/s

Replacing the variables in the equation:

20 = 4* m

m = 20 / 4

m = 5 kg

Hey guys, i'm at 10 grade at school i have a physics question about stress tension and young modulus ? Please this is my questio
makvit [3.9K]
Use the eq. of Young modulus Y=(F/A)/(∆l/lo)
dimana ∆l is the elongation of wire, lo is its initial length.
So ∆l = (F/A)lo/Y.
∆l = (1000N/(6.5 × 10^-7 m^2))×(2.5m)/(2.0 × 10^-11 N/m^2)
Use calculator to finish it.
