A uniform electric field exists in the region between two oppositely charged plane parallel plates. a proton is released from re

st at the surface of the positively charged plate and strikes the surface of the opposite plate, 1.60 cm distant from the first, in a time interval of 3.20 * 10-6 s. (a) find the magnitude of the electric field.

According to Newton's second law

E.e = a * mp  ..... (1)

where

E is the magnitude of the electric field; e = 1.6 * 10^-19 is the elementary charge; mp = 1.67*10^-27 kg is the proton mass; a is the acceleration.

So, the distance

l = at^2/2 .......(2)

The proton accelerated

a = 2l / t^2 ...........(3)

From equations (1) and (3)

E= 32.51 V/m

Electric field

The physical field that surrounds electrically charged particles and exerts a force on all other charged particles in the field, either attracting or repelling them, is known as an electric field (also known as an E-field).  It can also refer to a system of charged particles' physical field. Electric charges and time-varying electric currents are the building blocks of electric fields. The electromagnetic field, one of the four fundamental interactions (also known as forces) of nature, manifests itself in both electric and magnetic fields.

An object is acted upon by a force of 22 newtons to the right and a force of 13 newtons to the left. What is the magnitude and d
Harman [31]

The magnitude and direction of the net force is 9 newtons to the right ⇒ answer A

Explanation:

The net force is the vector sum of all the forces that act upon an object

If two forces are horizontal where,

  • F_{1} > F_{2}
  • They are in opposite direction
  • Net force F = F_{1} - F_{2} in the direction of F_{1}

An object is acted upon by a force of 22 newtons to the right

and a force of 13 newtons to the left

We need to find the magnitude and direction of the net force

→ F_{1} = 22 newtons to the right

→ F_{2} = 13 newtons to the left

F_{1} > F_{2} and they are in opposite direction

Substitute these values in the rule of the net force above

→ Net force F = 22 - 13 = 9

→ The direction of the net force is the same direction of the larger

   force, the direction of the larger force is to the right

→ Net force is 9 newtons to the right

The magnitude and direction of the net force is 9 newtons to the right

On a roller coaster ride at an amusement park, a car travels from 7.6 m/s to 56 m/s in 3 seconds. whats the cars acceleration?
nataly862011 [7]

Acceleration is defined as rate of change in velocity

So we can write its formula as

a = \frac{v_f - v_i}{t}

here we know that

v_f = final velocity = 56 m/s

v_i = initial velocity = 7.6 m/s

t = time interval to change the velocity = 3 s

now we will plug in all values in the above equation

a = \frac{56 - 7.6}{3}

a = \frac{48.4}{3}

a = 16.13 m/s^2

so here roller coaster will accelerate at rate of 16 m/s^2 and hence correct answer is "option d"

A truck of mass 500kg moving at 4m/s collides with another truck of mass 1500kg moving in the same direction at 2m/s. What is th
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

m1u1+m2u2=(m1+m2)v.

500×4+1500×2=(500+1500)V.

2000+3000=2000V.

5000=2000V.

V=2.5m/s

Suppose that you changed the area of the bottom surface of the friction cart without changing its mass, by replacing the Teflon
insens350 [35]

Answer:

in this case the weight of the vehicle does not change , consequently the friction force should not change

Explanation:

The friction force is a macroscopic manifestation of the interactions of the molecules between the two surfaces, this force in the case of solid is expressed by the relation

          fr = μ N

          W-N= 0

          N = W

as in this case the weight of the vehicle does not change nor does the Normal one, consequently the friction force should not change
