Diffusion is essentially the movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration as a result of thermal motion. Diffusion is an important process in human physiology. Specifically, diffusion is the mechanism of movement of oxygen, nutrients and other molecules across the capillary walls and the movement of other molecules across membranes.

What is a diffusion example?

When perfume is sprayed in one area of a room, it quickly diffuses to fill the entire space with its scent. When a drop of food coloring is added to water in a glass, the water gradually becomes colored until the entire glass is that color.

What causes a diffusion?

The kinetic energy of the molecules results in random motion, causing diffusion. In simple diffusion, this process proceeds without the aid of a transport protein. it is the random motion of the molecules that causes them to move from an area of high concentration to an area with a lower concentration.

What are the 3 types of diffusion?

The three types of diffusion are - simple diffusion, osmosis and facilitated diffusion.

(i) Simple diffusion is when ions or molecules diffuse from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.

(ii) In osmosis, the particles moving are water molecules.

(iii) Facilitated diffusion is the movement of hydrophilic molecules or ions across the plasma membrane.

xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer:

ΔHrxn =  - 1534.3 J

Explanation:

Given the assumptions and the formula for the change in enthalpy:

ΔHrxn = m x C x ΔT,  where

               m is the mass of solution given 135.4 g

               C is the heat capacity 4.2 J/g .K  and,

               ΔT is the change in temperature

we have ,

T₁ = ( 18.1 + 273) K = 291.1 K

T₂ = ( 15.4 +273) K = 288.4 K

ΔHrxn =  135.3 g x 4.2 J/gK x ( 288.4 -291.1 ) K = - 1534.3 J

After verifying our result has the correct unit, the answer is -1534.3 Joules, and the negative sign tells us it is an endothermic reaction decreasing the final temperature.

1. How is the genome like a stack of papers?
Ivanshal [37]

Answer:

Except for mature red blood cells, all human cells contain a complete genome. DNA in the human genome is arranged into 24 distinct chromosomes—physically separate molecules that range in length from about 50 mil- lion to 250 million base pairs.
