The net ionic equation is the representation of the elements in ionic form. The acid-base hydrolysis is given as, CN⁻(aq) + H₂O (l) ⇄ HCN(aq) + OH⁻(aq).

What are ionic equations?

Ionic equations are a representation of the ions that are included in a reaction to form the product. It excludes the spectator ions as they are unable to get dissolved.

Potassium cyanide reacts with water to produce a weak acid and a strong base. The reaction is given as,

KCN(aq) + H₂O(l) ⇄ KOH(aq) + HCN(aq)

Here, KOH is a strong base and HCN is a weak acid. The net ionic equation of the basic solution will be given as,

CN⁻(aq) + H₂O (l) ⇄ HCN(aq) + OH⁻(aq).

Therefore, KOH being a spectator ion will not be included in the net ionic equation.

What is an important step to determine the number of grams of SO3 that can be produced by reacting 6 moles of SO2 with oxygen in
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:

480.40 g.

Explanation:

 • According to the balanced equation:

2 SO₂(g) + O₂(g) → 2 SO₃(g),

it is clear that 2.0 moles of SO₂ react with 1.0 mole of oxygen to produce 2.0 moles of SO₃.

 • We can get the no. of moles of SO₃ produced:

∵ 2.0 moles of SO₂ produce → 2.0 moles of SO₃, from the stichiometry.

∴ 6.0 moles of SO₂ produce → 6.0 moles of SO₃.

 • Then, we can get the mass of the produced 6.0 moles of SO₃ using the relation:

mass = no. of moles x molar mass of SO₃ = (6.0 moles)(80.066 g/mol) = 480.396 g ≅ 480.40 g.

Calculate the average atomic mass of rubidium. Rubidium has two isotopes, 85Rb and 87Rb. 85Rb has an atomic mass of 84.912 amu a
astraxan [27]
Answer : The average atomic mass of rubidium = 85.468 Explanation: Given that 85Rb isotope has atomic mass of 84.912amu with abundance of 72.17% therefore we get 84.912 x 0.7217 = 61.281 and 87Rb isotope has atomic mass of 86.909 with abundance of 27.83% hence we get 86.909 x 0.2783 = 24.187 Thus we get 61.281 + 24.187 = 85.468 as the average atomic mass of Rubidium.
