What happens when chemical bonds break and new bonds form
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

Chemical reactions make and break the chemical bonds between molecules, resulting in new materials as the products of the chemical reaction.

Explanation:

Breaking chemical bonds absorbs energy, while making new bonds releases energy, with the overall chemical reaction being endothermic or exothermic.

What are the two different ions present in the compound al(no3)3?
Aleks [24]

Al^{3+} and NO_3^{-}

Aluminum nitrate is an ionic compound, meaning that it is made up cations and anions. By convention when writing the formula for an ionic compounds the cation part shall be placed in front the anions. Thus the cation would contain aluminum and the anion shall be a polyatomic nitrate ion consisting of nitrogen and oxygen. The bracket with subscript 3 attached resembles the ratio between the two species, aluminum ions and nitrate ions. For each aluminum ion in the compound there shall be three corresponding nitrate ions.

Aluminum form ions of charge +3 whereas nitrate ions are of charge -1. Write the charge of the ion as the superscript in reverse (i.e., write 3+ as in Al^{3+} and - in NO_3^{-}, omitting any 1.)

How many grams of propane are in 20 pounds of propane? Use the conversion 1 lb = 454 g. (Express your answers for the next three
Dima020 [189]

Answer:

a. =9.1x10^3gC_3H_8

b. 2.1x10^2molC_3H_8

c. Q=-4.6x10^5kJ

Explanation:

Hello,

a. By applying the given information, one obtains:

20lbC_3H_8*\frac{454gC_3H_8}{1lbC_3H_8} =9.1x10^3gC_3H_8

b. By knowing that the propane has a molecular mass of 44g/mol, one obtains:

20lbC_3H_8*\frac{454gC_3H_8}{1lbC_3H_8}*\frac{1molC_3H_8}{44gC_3H_8} =2.1x10^2molC_3H_8

c. Here, the propane's combustion chemical reaction is stated:

C_3H_8+5O_2-->3CO_2+4H_2O

This enthalpy of reaction is computed via:

ΔrH=(3*-393.5kJ/mol)+(4*241kJ/mol)-(-104.7kJ/mol)=-2043kJ/mol

Finally, since it is done for 20 lb of propane (2.1x10^2molC_3H_8), the obtainable energy is:

Q=-2043kJ/mol*2.1x10^2molC_3H_8\\Q=-4.6x10^5kJ

Best regards.

What may happen if the oceanic plates stop moving?
My name is Ann [436]
If all plate motion stopped, Earth would be a very different place. The agent responsible for most mountains as well as volcanoes is plate tectonics, so much of the activity that pushes up new mountain ranges and creates new land from volcanic explosions would be no more. The volcanoes of the Pacific Ring of Fire, in South and North America, Japan, the Philippines, and New Zealand, for example, would shut off, and the steady southeastward migration of volcanic activity along the Hawaiian Islands would stop. Volcanism would just continue on the big island. There would also be far fewer earthquakes, since most are due to motion of the plates.
