Because the Potassium ion loses an electron, the electrons come a little closer to the nucleus because they are attracted to the protons. This makes the ion smaller in radius

Are plant cells affected when water is scarce
boyakko [2]
Water is vital to the existence of plant life. Not only do plants use it to keep their cells from drying out, but they need water to move nutrients and raw materials throughout their systems to areas where photosynthesis and seed production take place. When water stress occurs, whether caused by drought or root impairment, many invisible processes are affected.

Give three reasons why fluid spills in water are more damaging than fluid spills on land
marta [7]

Answer:

1) Oil is less dense than water so when oil spills, it spreads across the entire water surface.

2) The oil spreads very quickly with lighter oils such as gasoline.

3) Wind, Currents, and Warm Temperatures will cause Oil to spread quicker.

Two categories of compounds are
crimeas [40]

Answer is: (3) ionic and molecular.

Ionic compounds are made of ions held together with ionic bonds.

Ionic bond forms when a cation transfers its extra electron to an anion who needs it.

For example compound magnesium chloride (MgCl₂) has ionic bond (the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions).

Magnesium (metal) transfers two electrons (became positive cation) to chlorine (became negative anion).

Molecular compounds are made up of molecules whose atoms are connected with covalent bonds.

Covalent bond is bond between nonmetals.

For example, molecule carbon monoxide CO has covalent bond.

Carbon (C) and oxygen (O) are nonmetals.

Carbon atom and oxygen atom are connected by a triple bond (six shared electrons in three bonding molecular orbitals) that is formed of two covalent bonds and one dative covalent bond.

A reaction mixture initially contains 0.140 MCO and 0.140 MH2O. What will be the equilibrium concentration of CO?
Allushta [10]

Answer:

0.013 M

Explanation:

From the question, we can make the following deductions; we are given mixture that contains two compounds, that is A and B, 0.140 M CO and 0.140 M H2O respectively. Then, we are asked to find the equilibrium concentration of Carbonmonoxide,CO.

So, the equation for the reaction is given below;

CO + H2O <-----------------> CO2 + H2.

Initially: we have 0.14M of CO, 0.14M of H2O and zero (0) concentration of CO2 and H2.

At time,t = CO =0.14 - x , H2O = 0.14 - x, CO2 and H2 = x.

The above reaction consist of the forward reaction and the backward reaction.

Therefore, the equilibrium Concentration of CO;

(Since we are giving that Kc = 102). Then, Kc= [CO2][H2] ÷ [CO][H2O]. Where Kc is the equilibrium constant.

Therefore, 102 = [x^2] / [0.14 - x]^2.

==> 10.1= x/0.14 - x.

====> 0.141 - 10.1 x = x.

x + 10.1 x = 0.141.

===> 11.1 x = 0.141.

===> x = 0.141 ÷ 11.1.

===> x = 0.127 M .

Then, at time,t CO = 0.14 - x.

= 0.14 - 0.127 = 0.013 M
