The power supplied to a typical black-and-white television set is 90 W when the set is connected to 120 V. (a) How much electric

al energy does this set consume in 1 hour? (b) A color television set draws about 2.5 A when connected to 120 V. How much time is required for it to consume the same energy as the black-andwhite model consumes in 1 hour?

Answer:

The electrical energy and time required for it to consume the same energy are 3.24\times10^{5}\ J and 18 min.

Explanation:

Given that,

Power = 90 W

Voltage V = 120 V

Current = 2.5

(a). We need to calculate the  amount of energy

Using formula of energy

Q=pt

Where, p = power

t = time

Put the value into the formula

Q=90\times1

Q=90\times3600

Q=3.24\times10^{5}\ J

(b). We need to calculate the  power

Using formula of power

P=V\times I

Where, I = current

V = voltage

Put the value into the formula

P=120\times2.5

P=300\ W

We need to calculate the time

Using formula of time

t= \dfrac{Q}{P}

Put the value into the formula

t=\dfrac{3.24\times10^{5}}{300}

t=1080\s

t=\dfrac{1080}{60}=18\ min

Hence, The electrical energy and time required for it to consume the same energy are 3.24\times10^{5}\ J and 18 min.

Tom and Mary are riding a merry-go-round. Tom is on a horse about half way between the center and the outer rim, and Mary is on
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Tom is on half way between the center and the outer rim

Mary is on the extreme outer rim

Suppose \omega is the angular velocity of ride with radius of outer rim be R

\alpha =angular acceleration of Ride

At any instant both Tom and Mary experience the same angular speed

(b)Linear velocity at any instant

v_{Tom}=\omega \times R

v_{Mary}=\omeag \times \frac{R}{2}

Thus Tom has higher linear speed

(c) For radial Acceleration

a_r=\omega ^2\times r

a_{Tom}=\omega ^2\times R

a_{Mary}=\omega ^2\times \frac{R}{2}

Tom has higher radial Acceleration as it is directly Proportional of radius

Eduardwww [97]

Answer:

1) The net force is 5 N. The box is accelerating 10 m/s

2)  The net force is 6.986 N. It is accelerating. Normal Force is 16.986

Explanation:

1) 20 N forward - 15 N backwards = a net force of 5 N

  Acceleration: Acceleration = Net Force * Mass ( derived from Force = mass * acceleration).

a = 5 N / 2 kg

a= 2.5 m/s^2

2)
