What is the difference between speed and velocity with regards to uniform circular motion?

Physics

Speed ignores the direction of motion and is a scalar quantity. Velocity requires a directional component (like the arrow in a vector). In circular motion, the speed remains the same but the velocity is constantly changing since the direction of motion is constantly changing (ie. it is accelerating).

If the skater coasts only around 65 degrees of the circle, find the magnitude of his displacement vector.
baherus [9]
We are given a skater who coasts only around 65 degrees of the circle. The magnitude of the vector is determined by converting 65 degrees to radians:

65//180 = 0.36 radians

The displacement of the vector is 65 degrees east.

What force does it take to accelerate a 9.2 kg object 7.0 m/s^2?
Ulleksa [173]

Answer:

<h2>64.4 N</h2>

Explanation:

The force acting on an object given it's mass and acceleration can be found by using the formula

force = mass × acceleration

From the question

mass = 9.2 kg

acceleration = 7 m/s²

We have

force = 9.2 × 7 = 64.4

We have the final answer as

<h3>64.4 N</h3>

Hope this helps you

A 1250 kg car is stopped at a traffic light. A 3550 kg truck moving at 8.33 m/s hits the car from behind. If bumpers lock, how f
Radda [10]

Answer:

the two vehicles will be moving at a speed of 6.16  m/s

Explanation:

This is a case of completely inelastic collision, therefore, the conservation of momentum can be written as:

m_1\,v_1+m_2\,v_2=(m_1+m_2)\,v_f

which given the information provided results into:

m_1\,v_1+m_2\,v_2=(m_1+m_2)\,v_f\\(1250)\,(0)+(3550)\,(8.33)=(1250+3550)\,v_f\\29571.5=4800\,v_f\\v_f=6.16\,\,m/s
