Answer is: 3.33 Amperes (A) 

Given: 

Device 1: 12 ohms 

Device 2: 4 ohms 

Voltage Total: 40 V (Volts) 


Solution: 40 V = V1 = V2 

Voltage = IR 

I1 = V1 / R1

I1 = (40 V) / (12 Ohms) = 3.334 A (Amperes) 

I1 = 3.33 A
