Which of these molecules have all atoms lying in the same plane? a. cbr4 and nh3 b. pf5 c. nh3 and hcn d. so3 and hcn
STALIN [3.7K]

Molecules having all atoms lying in the same plane is c) HCN

HCN is a molecule in which all the atoms in the same plane i.e. it is a Planar molecule.

A Planar molecule is the one in which atoms are arranged in same plane i.e. atoms arrange themselves to exist in a two dimensional plane around the central atom.

The presence of double bond or triple bond in a molecule allows the molecule to get arranged in a plane.

The presence of triple bond in HCN allows it to be arranged in a plane.

HCN to be specific is a Linear molecule in which the angle between H and CN is 180.

The bond between C and N atom is a triple bond containing two pie bonds and one sigma bond.

Hence c) HCN is a planar molecule.

Give reason why mendeleev's definition of transition elements is no longer acceptable

Mendeleev's periodic table

Dmitri Mendeleev

Like many scientists working at the end of the 19th-century the Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev (1834-1907) was looking for ways to organise the known elements. Mendeleev published his first periodic table of the elements in 1869.

Features of Mendeleev's tables

Mendeleev arranged the elements in order of increasing relative atomic mass. When he did this he noted that the chemical properties of the elements and their compounds showed a periodic trend. He then arranged the elements by putting those with similar properties below each other into groups. To make his classification work Mendeleev made a few changes to his order:

he left gaps for yet to be discovered elements
he switched the order of a few elements to keep the groups consistent

In the important industrial process for producing ammonia (the Haber Process), the overall reaction is: N2(g) + 3H2(g) → 2NH3(g)
monitta
28g N2/(17 x 2 x 0.98) g NH3

1.7 g NH3 x 28g N2/(17 x 2 x 0.98) g NH3 =

47.6 / 33.32 = 1.43 g N2

How many grams of KNO3 should be used to prepare 2.00 liter of a 0.50 m solution
statuscvo [17]
Mr of KNO3 = 101.

n = cv where n is moles, c is concentration (in this case 0.5 moles for every litre) and v is the volume

your moles would be 0.5 x 2 =1

and since n (moles) = m/mr and your mole is 1 .. your mass would be 101g

Hope I answered your question! :)
