When a 25.00 mL volumetric flask weighing 20.340 g is filled partially with metal shot the mass is 119.691 g. The flask is then

filled to the 25.00 mL mark with methanol (d = 0.791 g/cm3) and has a total mass of 130.410 g. What is the density of the metal?

Answer:

8.7 g/ml

Explanation:

We now that we can calculate the density using the equation d= m/v

d stand for density

m stands for mass

V stands for volume

Take in mind:

volumetric flask + metal = 119.691 g

volumetric flask has a capacity of 25 ml, so

25ml = volume of metal + volume of ethanol

  • Now we calculate mass and volume of the metal:

mass of the metal= mass of flask with metal - mass of the volumetric flask

mass of the metal = 119.691 g - 20.340 g = 99.351

  • Now, in order to obatin de volume of the metal we use the data of the solvent (ethanol).

g solvent= g flask with metal and ethanol - g of flask with metal.

g solvent= 130.410 g - 119.691 g = 10.719 g of ethanol.

ml sovent = 10.719 g ethanol(\frac{1 cm^3}{0.791 g ethanol})= 13.55 cm^3 or 13.55 ml of ethanol

volume of the metal = 25 ml - 13.55 ml of ethanol = 14.45 ml of metal

  • d=\frac{m}{v}= \frac{99.351 g}{11.45 ml}= 8.7 g/ml

Why will a toy train remain still if you push on the engine with
netineya [11]

Explanation:

Because when two equal forces are applied from opposite directions, they "eliminate" each other.

The train would go right if a 3N force was only applied in the right direction, and it would go left if the same force was only applied to the left.

If a 3N force was applied to the right and a 2N force to the left, it would equal a 1N force to the right (3-2=1).

But there it's 3-3=0, so in practice the force is 0N. Therefore the train won't move.

Which describes the amplitude of a wave when it carries more energy?
MrMuchimi

Answer:

It is higher.

Explanation:

The amplitude of a wave that carries more energy is usually higher.

The energy carried by a wave is related to the amplitude in such a manner that it is proportional to the square amplitude.

Amplitude is the maximum vertical displacement of a wave moving along its path.

  • Energy of wave and its amplitude are directly proportional to one another.
  • If the energy of wave is doubled, the amplitude is quadrupled.
  • So, the higher the energy of a wave, the more its amplitude.
