Option (C) is correct as they walked in one direction, then they were still, then they walked in the opposite direction.

Further explanation:

Velocity is defined as the rate of change of displacement with respect to time.

Mathematically,

\boxed{V=\dfrac{{ds}}{{dt}}}

Here, \dfrac{{ds}}{{dt}} represent the rate of change of position with respect to time which is also called slope of a curve on position vs time curve.

Case 1:

For constant velocity.

\boxed{V={\text{constant}}}

From the above expression, it can be observed that the rate of change of position with respect to time will be constant. Therefore, the slope of position vs tine curve will also be constant.

The slope of a line is constant throughout the given time interval so position vs time curve will be a straight line passing through the origin.

Case 2:

If velocity of a particle is zero.

Mathematically,

\boxed{V=0}

From the above expression, it can be observed that the rate of change of position with respect to time will be zero. Therefore the slope of position vs tine curve will also be zero.

The slope of a line parallel to X axis is zero throughout the given time interval. So, position vs time curve will be a straight line parallel to the X axis.

Case 3:

If velocity of a particle is constant but the direction of velocity is opposite to the direction of velocity in case 1, in that case the rate of change of position with respect to time will be negative. Therefore, slope will also be negative.

Concept:

The starting curve of a position vs time is a straight line passing through origin whose slope is positive.

This part of curve shows that John and Caroline started walking in one direction with initial velocity zero and reaches a point (let) A.

From A to B curve is a straight line parallel to x axis, therefore John and Caroline are still during this time of interval.

From B to C the curve is a straight line but slope of the line is negative, therefore John and Caroline are walking in the direction opposite with constant velocity.

Thus, option (C) is correct as they walked in one direction, then they were still, then they walked in the opposite direction.

Answer:

C) They walked in one direction, then they were still, then they walked in the opposite direction.

Explanation:

John and Caroline go out for a walk one day. This graph represents their distance from home.c According to the graph they walked with almost same in both the direction.

First they walked in one direction and travel 30 meter in same direction then they were still for some time. Then they walked in the opposite direction for 30 meter. They walked in both the direction with approximately equal speed.

Thus, Option C is correct.

Which component of magma includes mobile ions of silicon?
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

Melt.

Explanation:

When rocks melt, they do so slowly and gradually because most rocks are made of several minerals, which all have different melting points; moreover, the physical and chemical relationships controlling the melting are complex. As a rock melts, for example, its volume changes. When enough rock is melted, the small globules of melt link up and soften the rock.

Under normal conditions, mantle rock like peridotite shouldn't melt in the Earth's upper mantle. However, by adding water you can lower the melting point of the rock. Alternatively, by decompressing the rock, you can bring it to a pressure where the melting point is lower. In both cases, basalt magma will form and considering it is hotter and less dense than the surrounding rock, it will percolate towards the surface and some of that erupts.

A tin can collapses if all air inside it is taken out why
Veseljchak [2.6K]

That only happens when the tin can is IN air.

In the familiar, comfy part of Earth's atmosphere where we live, the normal pressure of air is around 14.6 pounds on every square inch of everything. That's a big part of the reason why we're built with bodies that generate that same amount of pressure on the INSIDE pressing OUT. That way, we always have the same pressure pushing in both directions, so we know that we won't get crushed or blow up like balloons.

But we have to be careful with our bodies or other things when they're in places where the atmospheric pressure on the outside is NOT normal.

-- When a deep-sea diver goes hundreds of feet down in the ocean, and the pressure of the water is much GREATER than normal air.

-- When an astronaut has to go outside ... where there's NO air ... and fix something on the International Space Station.

When the pressure on the outside becomes very unusual, we have to wear special suits to protect our bodies from the unusual conditions.

The tin can in the story is a lot like our bodies. As long as it has air inside and air outside, the pressure is the same in both directions, so there's no particular force trying to deform the can. But ...

-- If you seal the can with the air inside it, take the can into a vacuum chamber, and pump the air out of the vacuum chamber, then the can only has pressure inside. It'll expand, and eventually spring a little hole in the metal, and all the air inside will blow out.

-- If you take all the air OUT of the can (so the can is REALLY 'empty'), then the pressure on it is all from the outside. In that situation, the can simply collapses, because there's nothing inside to provide pressure in the outward direction.

One more little thing to think about:

When you want some toothpaste to come drizzling out of the tube onto your brush, what do you do ? Do you perhaps squeeze the tube, and increase the pressure on the outside ?

An woman whose weight is 804 N stands on a long horizontal plank of wood 1.55 m from one end. The plank is uniform and is suppor
meriva

Answer:

Explanation:

There will be reaction force by  each vertical post on horizontal plank . Let it be R₁ and R₂ . R₁ is reaction force by the post nearer to woman

Taking torque of all forces about the end far away from the woman

Torque by reaction force = R₁ x 5.5

= 5.5 R₁ upwards

Torque by weight of woman in opposite direction , downwards

= - 804 x ( 5.5 - 1.55 )

= - 3175.8

Torque by weight of the plank in opposite direction , downwards .

= - 27 x 5.5 / 2

= - 74.25

Torque by R₂ will be zero as it passes through the point about which torque is being taken .

Total torque

= 5.5 R₁ - - 3175.8 - - 74.25  = 0 ( For equilibrium )

5.5 R₁ = 3250

R₁ = 590.9 N .
