Suppose that when you wake up in the morning, you are very hungry. You go to the refrigerator and remove an egg. On the way to t

he stove, you drop the egg on the floor and the egg breaks. You get a second egg from the refrigerator, break the egg shell, and drop the egg into the frying pan. You notice that some eggshell pieces have fallen into your egg, so you pick out the eggshell pieces by hand. You stir the egg to make a scrambled egg. You then turn on the stove and cook the egg. When cooked, you eat the egg. Which of the italicized items are physical changes and which are chemical changes?
Tell whether the following are chemical or physical changes.

1- you drop the egg on the floor and the egg breaks
2- pick out the eggshell pieces by hand

Which equation represents the total ionic equation for the reaction of HNO3 and NaOH? Upper H superscript plus, plus upper O upp
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

Total Ionic equation:

H⁺(aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq) + Na⁺(aq) + OH⁻(aq) → H₂O(l) + Na⁺(aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq)

Explanation:

Chemical equation:

HNO₃ + NaOH →  NaNO₃ + H₂O

Balanced chemical equation:

HNO₃(aq) + NaOH(aq) →  NaNO₃(aq) + H₂O(l)

Total Ionic equation:

H⁺(aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq) + Na⁺(aq) + OH⁻(aq) → H₂O(l) + Na⁺(aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq)

Net ionic equation:

H⁺(aq) + OH⁻(aq) → H₂O(l)

The NO₃⁻ (aq)  and Na⁺ (aq) are spectator ions that's why these are not written in net ionic equation. The water can not be splitted into ions because it is present in liquid form.

Spectator ions:

These ions are same in both side of chemical reaction. These ions are cancel out. Their presence can not effect the equilibrium of reaction that's why these ions are omitted in net ionic equation

The electron configuration of a neutral atom is 1s22s22p63s2. Write a complete set of quantum numbers for each of the electrons.
Pavlova-9 [17]

Answer:

The four quantum number for each electron will be:

1s^{2}

n=1;l=0;m=0;s=+\frac{1}{2}/-\frac{1}{2}

2s^{2}

n=2;l=0;m=0;s=+\frac{1}{2}/-\frac{1}{2}

2p^{6}

n=1;l=1;\\m=+1,0.-1 \\s=+\frac{1}{2}/-\frac{1}{2}

3s^{2}

n=3;l=0;m=0;s=+\frac{1}{2}/-\frac{1}{2}

Explanation:

As the element is neutral, the number of protons will be equal to number of electrons which will be the atomic number of the element.

Number of electrons =12

Atomic number = 12

Element : Magnesium

The principal shell is represented by "n"

i) For "s" subshell the value of l =0 (azimuthal quantum number) thus m (magnetic quantum number)= 0

The two electrons in s subshell will have either plus half or minus half spin quantum number

ii) for "p" subshell the value for l =1

thus m = 0 or +1 or -1

The two electrons in each orbital will have either plus half or minus half spin quantum number

Copper chloride bihydrate. What might this name tell you about the atoms in this compound
lozanna [386]

Answer : The atoms in this compound are Copper(Cu), Chlorine(Cl), Hydrogen(H), Oxygen(O).

Explanation :

The given compound is copper chloride bi-hydrate which is also called as copper (II) chloride dihydrate as it contains two water of crystallisation.

The formula of copper chloride bi-hydrate is CuCl_2.2H_2O.

Therefore, there are 4 atoms in this compound and they are Copper(Cu), Chlorine(Cl), Hydrogen(H) and Oxygen(O).
