Answer : If mass remains the same while the volume of a substance increases/decreases and the density of the substance will decreases/increases.

Explanation :

Density : It is defined as the mass contained per unit volume.

Formula for density :

Density=\frac{Mass}{Volume}

As per question, if the mass of remains constant then the volume of a substance will be inversely proportional to the density of the substance. That means, when the volume increases, the density will be decreases and vice a versa.

Density\propto \frac{1}{Volume}

Hence, if mass remains the same while the volume of a substance increases/decreases and the density of the substance will decreases/increases.

7. Write a formula for each of the following:
sergeinik [125]

Answer : The formula for each of the following is:

(a) C_{22}H_{46}

(b) C_{17}H_{34}

(c) C_{13}H_{24}

Explanation :

  • Alkanes are hydrocarbon in which the carbon atoms are connected with single covalent bonds.

The general formula of alkanes is C_n H_{2n+2} where n is the number of the carbon atoms present in a molecule of alkane.

  • Alkenes are hydrocarbon in which the carbon atoms are connected with double covalent bonds.

The general formula of alkenes is C_n H_{2n} where n is the number of the carbon atoms present in a molecule of alkene.

  • Alkynes are hydrocarbon in which the carbon atoms are connected with triple covalent bonds.

The general formula of alkynes is C_n H_{2n-2} where n is the number of the carbon atoms present in a molecule of alkyne.

(a) An alkane with 22 carbon atoms

Putting n = 22 in the general formula of alkane, we get the formula of alkane as, C_{22}H_{2(22)+2} or C_{22}H_{46}

(b) An alkene with 17 carbon atoms

Putting n = 17 in the general formula of alkene, we get the formula of alkene as, C_{17}H_{2(17)} or C_{17}H_{34}

(c) An alkyne with 13 carbon atoms

Putting n = 13 in the general formula of alkyne, we get the formula of alkyne as, C_{13}H_{2(13)-2} or C_{13}H_{24}

State whether the following liquids are miscible with hexane (C6H14) by entering "yes" or "no".
NeTakaya

Benzene, C6H6 is miscible with hexane (C6H14)  but iron (IIl) nitrate, and Sulfuric acid, H2SO4Fe(NO3)3 are not miscible with hexane (C6H14)

Since organic or non polar dissolves in nom polar solvent.here both benzene and hexane (C6H14) are non polar solvents.But iron (IIl) nitrate, Fe(NO3)3 and Sulfuric acid, H2SO4 are inorganic and polar, therefore cannot dissolve with non polar solvent like hexane.

Miscible is a flowery heard that oil and water aren't very miscible substances, while seltzer and orange juice are miscible and scrumptious.Miscible beverages are also described as liquids that can blend to form a homogeneous solution. Miscible drinks generally blend with out limit, meaning they may be soluble at all quantities.

Miscible approach the materials blend completely. If  substances are miscible, they're also absolutely soluble in each other no matter the order of creation. for example, tetrahydrofuran and water are miscible.
