The correct option is B.

Phenophtalein is an indicator that is usually used in acid base titration experiments. Indicators are substances that undergo distinct, observable changes when the pH of their solutions change. Indicators exhibit changing of colors depending on the pH of the solution in which they are found. They are usually weak bases and acid which are capable of partial dissociation and formation of ions when dissolved in water. There are different types of indicator and phenophtalein is one of them. Phenophtalein is colorless in acidic solution and pink in basic solutions.

A mixture of methanol and methyl acetate contains 15.0 wt% methanol.
Usimov [2.4K]

The mixture flow rate in lbm/h = 117.65 lbm/h

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Given

15.0 wt% methanol

The flow rate of the methyl acetate :100 lbm/h

Required

the mixture flow rate in lbm/h

Solution

mass of methanol(CH₃OH, Mw= 32 kg/kmol) in mixture :

\tt 15\%\times 200~kg=30~kg\\\\mol=\dfrac{mass}{MW}=\dfrac{30~kg}{32~kg/kmol}=0.9375~kmol

mass of the methyl acetate(C₃H₆O₂,MW=74 kg/kmol,85% wt) in 200 kg :

\tt 85\%\times 200=170~kg\\\\mol=\dfrac{170}{74}=2.297~kmol

Flow rate of the methyl acetate in the mixture is to be 100 lbm/h.

1 kg mixture = 0.85 .methyl acetate

So flow rate for mixture :

\tt \dfrac{1~kg~mixture}{0.85~methyl~acetat}\times 100~lbm/h=117.65~lbm/h

The electron configuration of an element is 1s22s22p4. Describe what most likely happens when two atoms of this element move tow
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

When the two atoms move towards each other a compound is formed by sharing electron pairs supplied by each of the atoms to enable them have the stable 8 (octet) valency electrons in their outermost shell

Explanation:

The electronic configuration of the given element can be written as follows;

1s²2s²2p⁴

The given electronic configuration is equivalent to that of oxygen, therefore, we have;

The number of electrons in the valence shell = 2 + 4 = 6 electrons

Therefore, each atom requires 2 electrons to complete its 8 (octet) electrons in the outermost shell

When the two atoms move towards each other, they react and combine to form a compound by sharing 4 electrons, 2 from each atom, such that each atom can have an extra 2 electrons in its outermost orbit in the newly formed compound and the stable octet configuration is attained by each of the atoms in the newly formed compound.
