Here for AB to be parallel to CD, alternate interior angles must be equal,

2x+40=3x+10

3x-2x=40-10

x=30

so if x =30 , it will make AB parallel to CD

Option D , x=30 is correct

Whats the distance between (8,-3) and (4,-7)
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

d=5.656854

Step-by-step explanation:

d=√ ( 4 − 8 ) 2 + (− 7 − (− 3 ) ) 2

d=√ ( − 4 ) 2 + ( − 4 ) 2

d= √ 16 + 16

d= √32

d=5.656854

Sergeeva-Olga [200]
The “math sentence”: To find the answer, I need to divide the six chocolate bars by 3/4.

To model the situation, you need to draw 6 squares divided into quarters. Color in 3 of the quarters in each square.

Finally, write this for the solution sentence:
By giving 3/4 of a chocolate bar to each of her friends, Mrs. Lopes will be able to share her 6 chocolate bars with 8 different friends.

Hope you get that A+!

What is the solution to the system of equations below?
sattari [20]

Answer:

<h2>x = 9, y = -36 → (9, -36)</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

y=-3x-9\qquad(1)\\\\y=\dfrac{1}{3}x-39\qquad(2)\\\\\text{Substitute (1) to (2)}\\\\-3x-9=\dfrac{1}{3}x-39\qquad\text{multiply both sides by 3}\\\\-9x-27=x-117\qquad\text{add 27 to both sides}\\\\-9x=x-90\qquad\text{subtract}\ x\ \text{from both sides}\\\\-10x=-90\qquad\text{divide both sides by (-10)}\\\\x=9

\text{Put the value of x to (1):}\\\\y=-3(9)-9\\\\y=-27-9\\\\y=-36

I need help with questions 1,2, and 3. Would gratefully appreciate it (:
motikmotik

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(2):

First let's organise the data:

33 miles ... x mph ... 4h - downstream

33 miles ... y mph ... 7h - up the stream

x = 33/4 = 8.25 mph

y = 33/7 = 4.71 mph

(3)

P(x) = x^2 - 2x - 3

To find the amount of key rings sold when the profit is 5000$ we have to equate P(x) with 5, because in the problem the profit of the key rings is displayed in terms of thousands.

x^2 - 2x - 3 = 5\\x^2 - 2x - 8 = 0\\x_1 = 4, x_2 = -2

Since the number of keyrings sold has to be positive the only answer is 4 thousand key rings.

 The weight W of an object varies inversely as the square of the distance d from the center of the earth. At sea level (3978 mi
eimsori [14]
\bf \begin{array}{llllll}&#10;\textit{something}&&\textit{varies inversely to}&\textit{something else}\\ \quad \\&#10;\textit{something}&=&\cfrac{{{\textit{some value}}}}{}&\cfrac{}{\textit{something else}}\\ \quad \\&#10;y&=&\cfrac{{{\textit{k}}}}{}&\cfrac{}{x}&#10;\\&#10;&&y=\cfrac{{{  k}}}{x}&#10;\end{array}

with "k" being the "constant of variation"

so. hmm in this case is "w" inversely varying to the square of the distance or d²

thus   \bf w=\cfrac{k}{d^2}\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;d=3978\\&#10;w=129&#10;\end{cases}\implies 129=\cfrac{k}{3978^2}

solve for "k", to see what the constant of variation is

and plug it back in \bf w=\cfrac{k}{d^2}

now.. .to find her weight when she's 144miles above the surface, well
that's just \bf w=\cfrac{k}{(3978+144)^2}

and since you already know what "k" is, just divide and simplify away, to get "w"
