A Volkswagen bug is moving to the right with a speed of 20 m/s. A large SUV is moving to the left at a speed of 20 m/s. The SUV

has a mass three times that of the small car. They have an totally inelastic head-on collision in an intersection. There are two passengers in each vehicle, one seat-belted and the other not seat-belted. All the passengers weigh the same. The non-seat-belted passengers both collide with the dashboard of their respective cars. Use the following codes to refer to each of the passengers: SB = SUV, belted SN = SUV, non-belted VB = Volkswagen, belted VN = Volkswagen, non-belted
1. Rank the magnitude of the impulse experienced by the four passengers in this collision from smallest to largest. If two impulses are equal, then show an equals sign between them.

a. SB = SN < VB = VN
b. VB = VN < SB = SN
c. SB < SN < VB < VN
d. SB < VB < SN < VN

2. Rank the magnitude of the forces experienced by the four passengers in this collision, from smallest to largest. If two forces are equal, then show an equals sign between them.

a. SB = SN < VB = VN
b. VB = VN < SB = SN
c. SB < SN < VB < VN
d. SB < VB < SN < VN

Answer:

For part 1) correct answer is : a) SB=SN<VB=VN

For part 2) correct answer is : a) SB=SN<VB=VN

Explanation:

We will use the following formula of momentum

momentum after collision =momentum before collision

(m+3m)*v=m*u1-(3*m*u2)

As we know u1 = u2 = 20 m/s

Hence,

-2*m*20 = 4*m*v

v = -10 m/s

v being the common velocity of the SUV and car after the collision

As we know that impulse is J = change in momentum = m*(v-u)

And u being initial velocity which is same for the SUV and car

non belted passengers collide with dashboards with a force which is called as a internal force and due to that internal forces the momentum remains constant heance impulse is also same experienced by seatbelted and non seat belated

As mass of SUV is 3 times the mass or car.

Hence the correct option is a) SB=SN<VB=VN

2) There is the same order of rant for force and impulse

As we know that impulse j = F*dt

Hence correct answer. is a) SB=SN<VB=VN

Reptile [31]
The only evidence you have that you exist as a self-aware being is your conscious experience of thinking about your existence. Beyond that you're on your own. You cannot access anyone else's conscious thoughts, so you will never know if they are self-aware.

At t = 0, one toy car is set rolling on a straight track with initial position 13.5 cm, initial velocity -4.2 cm/s, and constant
Blizzard [7]
(a) We must first look at the formulas of the velocities of each toy car. v1 =
-4.2 + 2.60t. v2 = 5.20. When the two cars have equal speed, then
v1 = v2
-4.2 + 2.60t = 5.20
2.60t = 9.40
t = 3.62 s

(b) Their speed would then be 5.20 m/s. The toy car does not change speed since it doest not have any acceleration.
(c) The two cars will pass each other when their positions are equal.
x1 = 13.5 - 4.2t + 0.5*2.60t^2
x2 = 8.5 + 5.20t
x1 = x2
13.5 - 4.2t + 1.30t^2 = 8.5 + 5.20t
1.30t^2 - 9.40t + 5.0 = 0
t = 6.65s or t = 0.58 s

What things do different atoms have in common?

Thank you!
prohojiy [21]

Answer:They come in different kinds, called elements, but each atom shares certain characteristics in common. All atoms have a dense central core called the atomic nucleus. Forming the nucleus are two kinds of particles: protons, which have a positive electrical charge, and neutrons, which have no charge

Wanda and Marita are drinking bottles of water. Each girl sounds a different musical note by blowing across the top of her bottl
sesenic [268]
If there is less water in the bottle then the note played is lower, because there is more air to move around. This is one good hypothesis that could lead to a new experiment.

Hope that helps! ★ If you have further questions about this question or need more help, feel free to comment below or post another question and send the link to me. -UnicornFudge aka Qamar
