1) Chemical reactions produce new substances

Ans (d)

2) The symbol, Δ in a chemical reaction means that heat of supplied to the reaction.

Ans (a)

3) A skeleton equations does not show the reaction stoichiometry, i.e. the relative amounts of reactants and products.

A container holds 6.4 moles of gas. hydrogen gas makes up 25% of the total moles in the container. if the total pressure is 1.24
klio [65]
The total pressure of the mixture of gases is equal to the sum of the pressure of each gas as if it is alone in the container. The partial pressure of a component of the mixture is said to be equal to the product of the total pressure and the mole fraction of the component in the mixture.

Partial pressure of hydrogen gas = 1.24 atm x .25 = 0.31 atm
Partial pressure of the remaining = 1.24 atm x (1-.25) = 0.93 atm

A chemist measures the amount of oxygen gas produced during an experiment. She finds that 276. g of oxygen gas is produced. Calc
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

0.152 moles

Given that:

The mass of the oxygen gas produced = 4.87 g

Also, The molar mass of oxygen gas, = = 32 g/mol

The formula for the calculation of moles is shown below:

moles = \frac{Mass-taken}{Molar-mass} *

Thus,

moles = \frac{4.87g}{32g/mol }

Both given values and the answer is in 3 significant digits.

What is the net ionic equation of the reaction of fecl2 with naoh?
seraphim [82]

Answer;

Fe2+(aq) + 2OH(aq) ----> Fe(OH)2(s)

Explanation;

We first write down the balanced equation for this reaction:

FeCl₂(aq) + 2NaOH(aq) → 2 NaCl(aq) + Fe(OH)₂(s)

This is a precipitation reaction, where two soluble salts are mixed together in solution forms to make a precipitate.

Then,we can now write the ionic equation for this reaction, that is:

Fe²⁺(aq) + 2Cl⁻(aq) + 2 Na⁺(aq) + 2OH⁻ (aq) → 2 Na⁺(aq) + 2Cl⁻(aq) + Fe(OH)₂(s)

Now, we need to cancel the spectator ions, which are ions that are present on both sides in the equation.

So, the equation becomes;

Fe2+(aq) + 2OH(aq) ----> Fe(OH)2(s)
