Answer:

Ion is a charged particle.

A neutral atom contains equal number of positive protons and negative electrons

When an electron is lost or gained the atom becomes a charged particle which is called as an ION.

For example

Na is an atom which contains 11 electrons and 11 protons (= to atomic number)

When Na loses an electron it will have 11 positive proton and 10 negative electron and Thus, Na will become Na^+, a charge particle which we call it as sodium ion.

Cl is an atom which contains 17 electrons and 17 protons (= to atomic number)

When Cl loses an electron it will have 17 positive proton and 18 negative electron and Thus, Cl will become Cl^-, a charge particle which we call it as chloride ion.

When an ion is positively charged it is called as a cation

When an ion is negatively charged it is called as an anion.

Beryllium forms Be^{+2} cation.we see this in Beryllium chloride BeCl_2.

If BeCl_2 is present in water it forms Beryllium ions which is in Hydrated form that is H_2 O molecules are present in its ion [Be(H_2 O)_4 ]^{+2}.

Answer:

Explanation:

The symbol of beryllium is Be. It is located in the second group on the periodic table.

Beryllium is a divalent cation with a charge of +2.

It is capable of losing 2 electrons in order to be like the noble gas He and this is a more stable configuration.

3
Solve and derive the unit for Power
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

Unit of power is watt

Explanation:

Power = rate of doing work

or

Power, P = W/t

Where

W is work done and t is time

The unit of work done is Joules and that of time is seconds.

Power, P = J/s

We know that, J/s = watts

Hence, the unit of power is watts.

The Ksp of calcium carbonate in water at 25 °C is 2.25 x 10-8. CaCO3(s) <----> Ca2+ (aq) + CO3 2- (aq) What is favored at
seraphim [82]

Answer:

the solubility of CaCO3 is 0.015g/l 25 °C

is favored at equilibrium

Explanation:

The Ksp of calcium carbonate in water at 25 °C is 2.25 x 10-8. CaCO3(s) <----> Ca2+ (aq) + CO3 2- (aq) What is favored at equilibrium?

solubility is the property of a solute to dissolve in a solvent(liquid, gas ) to form a solution(soution can be saturated ,unsaturated, or supersaturated)

CaCO3(s) <----> Ca2+ (aq) + CO3 2- (aq)

in partial dissociation , we can say

2.25x 10^-8=Ca^{2+} +CO^{2-}_{3} }

let Ca^2+=CO3^-2=S

2.25x10^-8=S*S

S^2=2.25x10^-8

S=0.00015mol/L

Converting that to g/l

the relative molecular mass of CaCO3=100g/mol

0.00015*100g/mol

0.015g/l

the solubility of CaCO3 is 0.015g/l @room temperature

is favored at equilibrium

When an electron in an atom spontaneously jumps from a higher energy state to a lower energy state, the atom?
vlabodo [156]
If an atom suffers from a collision, that causes an electron to jump from a lower to higher state, it is called collisional excitation

what actually is left over of water once it self ionizes? Like what exactly are the hydrogen and hydroxide ions? Do they remain
GrogVix [38]
The formula for the self ionization of water is 2H₂O(l)⇄H₃O⁺(aq)+OH⁻(aq)

The hydronium (H₃O⁺) is usually just referred to as a hydrogen ion or a proton (H⁺) and hydroxide (OH⁻) doesn't have another name that I am aware of. These ions do stay in solution. However the concentrations are really small and the equilibrium constant (K(w)) is 1×10⁻¹⁴.

I hope this helps. Let me know if anything is unclear.
