In this item, it is assume that we are to express the dissociation of the formula unit given to be FeCl₂ into its ionic components.

As seen in the chemical formula, the unit is composed of iron (Fe) and chlorine (Cl). The dissociation is written as follows;

     FeCl₂ --> Fe²⁺ + Cl⁻

This equation is balanced by multiplying the appropriate component with a number that would equate the number of atoms in both sides of the equation.

     FeCl₂ --> Fe²⁺ + 2Cl⁻

What type of substances does conduction work best in? in other words what substances are good conductors?
vaieri [72.5K]

Explanation:

Electric conductors are the substances which allow easy passage of electric charges from one atom to another in the presence of a certain amount of voltage.

A conductor in which electric charge passes easily is known as a good conductor. Whereas a conductor in which electric charge passes with difficulty or no electric charge passes through is known as bad conductor.

For example, copper is good conductor of heat and electricity as it conducts flow of current quite easily.

Which equation shows the beta decay of a transuranium element
GalinKa [24]

1) Since you have not provided the equations to select the right one, I am going to explain you the relevant facts that are used to solve this question.

2) The transuranium elements are the chemiical elements with atomic number greater than that of the uranium.

The atomic number of uranium is 92. So, the transuranium elements are the elements with atomic number 93 or greater.

This are some of the transuranium elements:

Neptunio - 93

Plutonium - 94

Americium - 95

Curium - 96

Berkelium - 97

Californium - 98

Einstenium - 99

And so all the known elements (the last one is the 118).

3) In a nuclear reaction the total mass number ( shown as superscript to the left of the symbol) and total atomic number (shown as subscript to the left of the symbol) are conserved.

4) Beta decay is the release of a beta particle, which is an electron (considered massles and with charge - 1). So, the beta decay is represented with the symbol:

0

  β, which means 0 mass and charge - 1.

-1

5) This is, then, an example of a β decay equation for one transuranium element:

239              239            0

      Np    →         Pu   +      β

  93                94            -1

As you see 239 = 239 + 0 and 93 = 94 - 1, showing that the total mass number ( shown as superscript to the left of the symbol) and the total atomic number (shown as subscript to the left of the symbol) are conserved.

4. A compound has both ionic and covalent bonds if it contains what?chemistry
ch4aika [34]

Calcium Carbonate. Calcium carbonate is another example of a compound with both ionic and covalent bonds. Here calcium acts as the cation, with the carbonate species as the anion. These species share an ionic bond, while the carbon and oxygen atoms in carbonate are covalently bonded.

True or false - Evaporating, condensing, melting and freezing are all examples of chemical change.
Fittoniya [83]
False because they can turn back to their original form a chemical change would be like burning paper it can’t be changed back to it’s original offer it’s burnt
