A truck moving at 20 mph shoots a soccer ball at 20 mph in the opposite direction. How fast is the soccer ball moving? Explain

Physics
1 answer:
Brrunno [24]4 years ago

Answer:

Speed of the soccer ball with respect to ground is ZERO

Explanation:

As we know that truck is moving with speed 20 mph

Now a soccer ball is shoot from truck with respect to the motion of truck in opposite direction

The relative speed of the soccer ball is

v_{bt} = 20 mph

now we know that

v_{bt} = v_b - v_t

so we have

-20 mph = v_b - 20

so we have

v_b = 0

A fuel pump sends gasoline from a car's fuel tank to the engine at a rate of 6.55x10-2 kg/s. The density of the gasoline is 740
klasskru [66]

Answer:

speed = 3.95 m/s

Explanation:

area = π x radius^2

area = π x (2.67 x 10^-3)^2

volume flow rate = area x speed

volume / time = area x speed

density = mass / volume

volume = mass / density

<u>mass / (density x time) = area *speed</u>

mass flow rate = mass / time

<u>mass flow rate / density = area x speed</u>

6.55 x 10^-2 / 740 = pi * (2.67 x 10^-3)^2 * speed

speed =8.8514 x 10-5 /2.2396 x 10-5 m/s

speed = 3.95 m/s

Linear Velocity What is the linear velocity in cm&gt;min for any edge point of a 12-cm-diameter CD (compact disc) spinning at 10
daser333 [38]

3,89,988 cm/min is the linear velocity

Given,

Diameter of CD = 12 cm

So, Radius of CD = 6 cm

CD is spinning at 10350 rev/min

Firstly , convert rev/min into rad/min

1 rev = 2π radians

10350 rev/min = 10350 × 2π

                        = 64998 rad/min

Formula used,

v=rw where,

v is the Linear velocity

r is the radius

w is the angular velocity

v = 6 cm × 64998rad/min

  = 3,89,988 cm/min

Thus, linear velocity for any edge point of a 12-cm-diameter CD (compact disc) spinning at 10,350 rev/min is 389988 cm/min.

Which statement is the best example of pseudoscience?
Nady [450]
<span>pseudoscience includes beliefs theories, or practices that have been or are considered scientific, but have no basis in scientific fact.
This could mean the were disproved scientifically, can't be tested or lack evidence to support them.
Examples:Channeling- involves communicating with a spirit through a person

 Astrology- beliefs that humans are affected by the position of celestial bodies

the 200 g baseball has a horizontal velocity of 30 m/s when it is struck by the bat, B, weighing 900 g, moving at 47 m/s. during
Ivanshal [37]

Solution :

Given :

Mass of the baseball, m = 200 g

Velocity of the baseball, u = -30 m/s

Mass of the baseball after struck by the bat, M = 900 g

Velocity of the baseball after struck by the bat, v = 47 m/s

According to the conservation of momentum,

Mv+mu=Mv_1+mv_2

(900 x 47) + (200 x -30)  = (900 x v_1) + (200 x v_2)

36300 =  (900 x v_1) + (200 x v_2)

9v_1 + 2v_2 = 363 ..............(i)

9v_1 = 363 - 2v_2

v_1=\frac{363 - 2v_2}{9}

The mathematical expression for the conservation of kinetic energy is

\frac{1}{2}Mv^2+\frac{1}{2}mu^2 = \frac{1}{2}Mv_1^2+\frac{1}{2}mv_2^2

\frac{1}{2}(900)(47)^2+\frac{1}{2}(200)(-30)^2 = \frac{1}{2}(900)v_1^2+\frac{1}{2}(200)v_2^2    ................(ii)

$(9)(14)^2+(2)(-30)^2 = (9)v_1^2+2v_2^2$

21681 = 9v_1^2+2v_2^2

Substituting (i) in (ii)

21681= 9\left( \frac{363-2v_2}{9}\right)^2+2v_2^2

(363-2v_2)^2+18v_2^2=195129

(363)^2+18v_2^2-2(363)(2v_2)+(363)^2-195129=0

22v_2^2-145v_2-63360=0

Solving the equation, we get

v_2=96 \ m/s, -30 \ m/s

The negative velocity is neglected.

Therefore, substituting 96 m/s for v_2 in (i), we get

v_1=\frac{363-(2 \times 96)}{9}

     = 19

Thus, only impulse of importance is used to find final velocity.
