Machines make work easier even if they still require the same amount of work to be done. We humans get tired because we do not have constant source of energy for the work to be done.Machines have a constant source of energy such as electricicity. Humans too will work at the same rate without getting tired if they are also provided with constant energy.

A car traveling at 14 m/s accelerates at 3.5 m/s² for 5 seconds. How much distance does it travel during that time?
Rainbow [258]

Answer: 113.75

Explanation:

You know

acceleration = a = 3.5 m/s²

time = t = 5 seconds

initial velocity = u = 14 m/s

Unknown is distance = s = ?

Use equation: s = ut + \frac{1}{2} at²

Substitute all the known values inside the equation:

s = (14*5) + 0.5 * 3.5 * 5²

s = 70 + 43.75 = 113.75 m

The car travels 113.75 metres.

The coefficient of linear expansion of ordinary glass is three times that of Pyrex glass. An ordinary glass rod and a Pyrex glas
DochEvi [55]

Answer:

b. 3 times

Explanation:

Lets take

Coefficient for ordinary glass = α₁

Coefficient for pyrex glass = α₂

 Given that α₁ = 3 α₂

Initial length of both glasses are equal = L

Change in the temperature is also same .= ΔT

We know that change in the length  given as

ΔL =  L α ΔT

Therefore

\dfrac{\Delta L_1}{\Delta L_2}=\dfrac{L\alpha_1\Delta T}{L\alpha_2\Delta T}

\dfrac{\Delta L_1}{\Delta L_2}=\dfrac{3\alpha_2}{\alpha_2}

ΔL₁ = 3ΔL₂

Therefore change in the length of original glass is three time of pyrex glass.

b. 3 times

A person is lying on a diving board 3.50 m above the surface of the water in a swimming pool. She looks at a penny that is on th
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer:

1.995 m

Explanation:

Distance of penny as seen by the person = 5 m

Height of person from water surface = 3.50 m

Apparent depth of penny = 5 - 3.50 = 1.5 m

refractive index of water, n = 1.33

real depth / apparent depth = n

real depth = 1.33 x 1.5 = 1.995 m

Thus, the actual depth of water at that point is 1.995 m.
