Answer:

One of the ways by which electricity is generated is through hydroelectric generation.

Explanation:

There are various ways by which electricity can be generated, such as hydroelectric (water), geothermal, solar (with the use of photovaltaics).

Using the hydro-power as focus;

Electricity is generated in a power stations or power plants using coal, oil or natural gas as fuel which is used to generate heat.

The heat generated is in turn used to generate steam which is used to power a turbine by spinning it, the spinning turbine activates an electromechanical generator to produce electricity.

(However, in some power stations, with the use of a large water reservoir or dam, water is released from the reservoir and the water flows through the turbine, spinning it.)

The Electric generators transform kinetic energy into electricity and the principle at work is Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.

The power generated is transmitted at high voltage and low current to substations, where the voltage is lowered so it can be sent on smaller power lines. It is then distributed to transformers in every neighborhood and the transformers also reduce the voltage so that the power that gets into our homes is safe for consumption (use).

Usefulness of Electricity;

The usefulness of electricity cuts across our everyday life, starting from lighting, cooking, laundry, source of power for gadgets and electrical appliances such as computers and TV set, water heater, refrigerator, public transportation systems.

Without electricity, there would be no access to any of the above mentioned necessities of life.

Answer:

Generation ----transmission---distribution

Explanation:

Electricity is generated from the generating station which could be (thermal, hydro, nuclear, coal etc) ,it is generated at a low voltage and is being step up to a higher voltage with the aid of transformers. This transformers step up and step down voltages from one level to another. At the transmission end they ensure the voltage get to the distribution end .the distribution end ensures the voltages are being supplied to nearby homes. The rated voltage for homes is 230v in some countries or 110V in other countries.

Electricity is useful and powerful for modern society because majority of the equipments in use today depends on electricity for use.which makes it very important.

Riders in a carnival ride stand with their backs against the wall of a circular room of diameter
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

option C

Explanation:

given,

diameter of circular room = 8 m

rotational velocity of the rider = 45 rev/min

                  = 45 \times \dfrac{2\pi}{60}

                  =4.712 rad/s

here in this case normal force is equal to centripetal force

N = m r ω²

N = m x 4 x 4.712²

N = 88.83m

frictional force = μ N

    = 88.83m x μ

now, for the body to not to slide

gravity force is equal to frictional force

m g = 88.83 m x μ

g = 88.83 x μ

9.8 = 88.83 x μ

 μ = 0.11

hence, the correct answer  is option C

A wire of resistance 5.9 Ω is connected to a battery whose emf ε is 4.0 V and whose internal resistance is 1.2 Ω. In 2.9 min, ho
dexar [7]

Answer:

a) 390J

b) 322J

c) 68J

Explanation:

We need to calculate the power given by the battery. the power is given by:

P=V*I\\I=\frac{V}{R}\\I=\frac{4}{5.9+1.2}\\I=0.56A\\P=2.24W

Watts is J/s so:

E=P*t\\E=2.24\frac{J}{s}*2.9min*(60\frac{s}{min})=390J

The thermal energy in the wire is given by:

E_w=P_w*t\\P_w=I^2*R_w=0.56^2*5.9=1.85W\\E_w=1.85\frac{J}{s}*2.9min*(60\frac{s}{min})=322J

And the the dissipated thermal energy in the battery will be the remainig energy:

E_b=E-E_w\\E_b=390-322=68J

Is energy made or lost over time
Ann [662]

Well basically in physics and chemistry, the law of conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system remains constant, it is said to be conserved over time. This law means that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed or transferred from one form to another.

Hope this helps (:
