The correct option is Mechanical energy is used to produce electrical energy.

The water stored in a dam at some height above the surface of earth has the gravitational potential energy. This potential energy gets converted into kinetic energy when the water starts moving. This running water hits the turbine which rotates and thus electricity is produced. So it is mechanical energy ( kinetic energy and potential energy ) that gets converted into electrical energy.

When you apply a horizontal force of 76 N to a block, the block moves across the floor at a constant speed ().When you apply a f
elena-s [515]

Answer:

Explanation:

When we apply a horizontal force of 76 N to a block, the block moves across the floor at a constant speed. So net force on the block is zero .

It implies that a force ( frictional ) acts on it which is equal to 76 N in opposite direction ( friction )

When we apply  a greater force on it it starts moving with acceleration .

This time kinetic friction acts on it due to rough ground equal to 76 N .This is limiting friction ( maximum friction )

Net force on the body in later case

= 89 - 76

= 13 N

Force by ground on the block in horizontal direction = 76 N ( FRICTIONAL FORCE )

What is the unique geological feature found on Mercury surface?
Cloud [144]

Answer:

The surface of Mercury has landforms that indicate its crust may have contracted. They are long, sinuous cliffs called lobate scarps. These scarps appear to be the surface expression of thrust faults, where the crust is broken along an inclined plane and pushed upward.

A completely inelastic collision occurs between two balls of wet putty that move directly toward each other along a vertical axi
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

h = 2.64 meters

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of one ball, m_1=3\ kg

Speed of the first ball, v_1=20\ m/s (upward)

Mass of the other ball, m_2=2\ kg

Speed of the other ball, v_2=-12\ m/s (downward)

We know that in an inelastic collision, after the collision, both objects move with one common speed. Let it is given by V. Using the conservation of momentum to find it as :

V=\dfrac{m_1v_1+m_2v_2}{m_1+m_2}

V=\dfrac{3\times 20+2\times (-12)}{3+2}

V = 7.2 m/s

Let h is the height reached by the combined balls of putty rise above the collision point. Using the conservation of energy as :

mgh=\dfrac{1}{2}mV^2

h=\dfrac{V^2}{2g}

h=\dfrac{7.2^2}{2\times 9.8}

h = 2.64 meters

So, the height reached by the combined mass is 2.64 meters. Hence, this is the required solution.
