Answer:

The acceleration and time are 588 m/s² and 0.071 sec respectively.

Explanation:

Given that,

Speed = 42.0 m/s

Distance = 1.50 m

(a). We need to calculate the acceleration

Using equation of motion

v^2=u^2+2as

a=\dfrac{v^2-u^2}{2s}

Put the value in the equation

a=\dfrac{42.0^2-0}{2\times1.50}

a=588\ m/s^2

(b). We need to calculate the time

Using equation of motion

v = u+at

t=\dfrac{v-u}{a}

t=\dfrac{42.0-0}{588}

t=0.071\ sec

Hence, The acceleration and time are 588 m/s² and 0.071 sec respectively.

A small ferryboat is 4.70 m wide and 6.10 m long. When a loaded truck pulls onto it, the boat sinks an additional 5.00 cm into t
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

   M = 1433.5 kg

Explanation:

This exercise is solved using the Archimedean principle, which states that the hydrostatic thrust is equal to the weight of the desalinated liquid,

              B = ρ g V

with the weight of the truck it is in equilibrium with the push, we use Newton's equilibrium condition

           Σ F = 0

           B-W = 0

           B = W

       body weight

           W = M g

the volume is

           V = l to h

           rho_liquid g (l to h) = M g

           M = rho_liquid l a h

we calculate

            M = 1000 4.7 6.10 0.05

           M = 1433.5 kg

A wave is moving at the rate of 40 cm/s. Its wavelength is 8 cm. What is the frequency of the wave?
IgorC [24]
Speed = frequency times wavelength.
40=8xf
f = 5 Hz or cycles per second.

A large crate is suspended from the end of a vertical rope. Is the tension in the rope greater when the crate is at rest or when
choli [55]

Answer:

Part a)

the tension force is equal to the weight of the crate

Part b)

tension force is more than the weight of the crate while accelerating upwards

tension force is less than the weight of crate if it is accelerating downwards

Explanation:

Part a)

When large crate is suspended at rest or moving with uniform speed then it is given as

F_t - mg = ma

here since speed is constant or it is at rest

so we will have

a = 0

F_t = mg

so the tension force is equal to the weight of the crate

Part b)

Now let say the crate is accelerating upwards

now we can say

F_t - mg = ma

F_t = mg + ma

so tension force is more than the weight of the crate

Now if the crate is accelerating downwards

F_t - mg = -ma

F_t = mg - ma

so tension force is less than the weight of crate if it is accelerating downwards
