A 4.10 g bullet moving at 837 m/s strikes a 820 g wooden block at rest on a frictionless surface. The bullet emerges, traveling

in the same direction with its speed reduced to 467 m/s. (a) What is the resulting speed of the block? (b) What is the speed of the bullet-block center of mass?

Answer:

(a) 1.85 m/s

(b) 4.1 m/s

Explanation:

Data

  • bullet mass, Mb = 4.10 g
  • initial bullet velocity, Vbi = 837 m/s
  • wooden block mass, Mw = 820 g
  • initial wooden block  velocity, Vwi = 0 m/s
  • final bullet velocity, Vbf = 467 m/s

(a) From the conservation of momentum:

Mb*Vbi + Mw*Vwi = Mb*Vbf + Mw*Vwf

Mb*(Vbi - Vbf)/Mw = Vwf

4.1*(837 - 467)/820 = Vwf

Vwf = 1.85 m/s

(b) The speed of the center of mass speed is calculated as follows:

V = Mb/(Mb + Mw) * Vbi

V = 4.1/(4.1 + 820) * 837

V = 4.1 m/s

A charged wire of negligible thickness has length 2L units and has a linear charge density λ. Consider the electric field E-vect
Stels [109]

Answer:

E=2K\lambda d\dfrac{L }{d^2\sqrt{L^2+d^2}}

Explanation:

Given that

Length= 2L

Linear charge density=λ

Distance= d

K=1/(4πε)

The electric field at point P

E=2K\int_{0}^{L}\dfrac{\lambda }{r^2}dx\ sin\theta

sin\theta =\dfrac{d}{\sqrt{d^2+x^2}}

r^2=d^2+x^2

So

E=2K\lambda d\int_{0}^{L}\dfrac{dx }{(x^2+d^2)^{\frac{3}{2}}}

Now by integrating above equation

E=2K\lambda d\dfrac{L }{d^2\sqrt{L^2+d^2}}

maksim [4K]

Answer:

People often overestimate the clarity of their intentions in their electronic communications because they underestimate the importance of tones of voice in communication.

Explanation:

Many factors intervene in communication together. We use words, we use non-verbal language through our gestures and attitudes, and we also use a certain tone of voice. If we focus on this last aspect, the tonality in the voice is decisive in many ways, which cannot be appreciated through electronic communications. With this we communicate emotions, attitudes and a degree of personal involvement. At the same time, the image we project on others largely depends on the tone of voice we have.
